What do you mean by "seeing everyone use the same face"? Are you looking at Apple watches as you walk down the street? Do you mean here, which is far from "everyone"? I use the face I want regardless of what anyone else uses. After all, I'm me, not them. Don't really get your point. And I don't get bored by thinking about watch faces. I actually don't really think about them. I just use them.

I agree and the OP must travel with different company than I do as I have only seen a single Apple watch in the wild and that person was leaving the Apple store. I prefer the analog face as I seem to "digest" the time quicker than the digital.

I had digital watches for a long time, but switched to analog (with a small digital display at the bottom) a few years ago because I liked the classic appearance. But I use the Modular face on my Apple watch because I like the added information (such as appointments) that it allows. I think that Apple (or a third party, if Apple permitted it) could design a better-looking modular-type face. Of the other faces, I like Motion the best, but the display usually goes dark before the moving image appears.

Another Modular user here. I just prefer the extra data available. Do wish we could do more (change color of some of them, etc.) -- but am guessing maybe the next Watch OS update will address it.

I'm also using the modular face - I think the Utility face is sexier but I love the amount of data of the modular face. I would love to use the Solar Face but I really want at least one complication - like weather. That's the only reason don't use that face. I was hoping they would add complications to some of those faces like solar and astronomy in Watch os 2.

that's why the majority use it

Keep up the awesome omniscience. FYI, if Apple has sold 2 million watches, the "majority" is 1,000,001. You've been a busy guy noticing all those dials.

(translation: you have no idea what the majority are doing)

Switch between utility and modular 70/30. Utility gives me the classic watch face that I've become accustomed to over the years. I use modular for more specific use cases at work. I find utility to be a nice balance of a basic watch with subtle smatwatch complications.

He/she meant the majority of modular users. Don't be a jerk.

The number in your statement is a billion and one. Maybe you meant a million and one?

Simple or Utility during the workday, Micky/Solar System on the Weekends depending on mood, and Modular for workouts since it can show the activity bands in text form.

It took me a while to warm up to Simple, but I think it's the best analog face (I use max detail.)

my favourite face is the solar.
tells me the time, tells me the date and the day, and it allows me to quickly see when the sunrise/sunset will be - which i appreciate very much now that its summer and im trying to squeeze in as much 'play' time outside as possible :D

By Apple Watch 3 or 4, the screen will always be on. I think the responsiveness if pretty great so far with the wrist detection
I think this is coming to Watch 2. They can maximize battery life by improving the processor efficiency and the killer app will be an always on screen. That would get a lot of people to upgrade. I know I would anyways.

Me too. It turns on before I get it all the way up to read.

If the other poster is taking 2 seconds, he is doing it wrong.

Not sure how it can be done wrong but mine comes on at least a second after I get my watch face level to look at. I'm using the modular face.

The premise of the entire thread is that the OP knows what the majority of anyone does, which he or she simply does not. Sorry if that makes me a jerk.

Fixed thank you.

You actually changed it to 100 million instead of 1 million. One more fix needed.

I also use modular for the extra data it provides. Hope they add more digital display faces with more customisation

I would want someone like Toyko Flash to design watch faces. :p

Yes their designs are often quite ... niche ... but some of the faces have really fun, totally abstract ways of telling time. I'm sure one displays time in binary for instance.

Just because this notification device is also a watch doesn't mean it has to replicate analogue movement.

Betters technology hasn't improved in years, it's only getting better by manufacturers having bigger batteries in bigger phones, thar isn't happening on a watch

Watch 2 will also have a more powerful GPU/CPU which will offset any battery improvement in processor efficiency

I don't think it will be too difficult for Apple to implement an always on screen. They are apparently using older 28-nanometer process for the current watches and can switch to 20- or even their newest 14-nanometer process for the next watch processer. They can also still use wrist detection by keeping the screen at 50% brightness and go to 100% brightness on wrist raise. Anyways I still think the next watch has an always on screen. Only time will tell.
