1024x768 and 2003-style graphics? Wow, that reminds me of... gaming in 2003! :)

I don't thing you actually ran the tech demo. It looks pretty damn good. Very smooth and things look very good when you get close up. This is a step above everything else for the iPhone and far beyond what other devices (like the PSP) can do.

512MB of RAM? Probably. Retina display? Not happening. Why? GPU. There is not a mobile GPU alive that can handle 2048 x 1536. Find me one, and we'll talk. Retina will not come to iPad or Mac until those types of GPUs can handle the strain with no delay. Until then, be happy with what you have. =)

I don't think it is the processor, Apple develops their own chips. The real issue is that there probably will not be a display on the market for a reasonable price yet. I don't think we will see a retina display until the iPad 3.

If Apple does come out with the Ipad 2 in april with Retina display I am so down for that model!

Just keep the same resolution 1024X766 but add IPS with retina.

They need to keep the 4X3 aspect ratio. Widescreen is gonna look and hold all wierd. Its a pad an not a TV screen!

I don't think they can make an iPad with retinal display and keep the same resolution. By it being a retina display it would automatically have 4x the resolution of the current iPad....
