So I guess the 13" MacBook Pro will never get a retina display? Disappointing.

You realize the Air and the Pro are different targets, yes? The Pro in the name might've been a hint but I guess not.
Air = light
Pro = ...Pro

Not very complicated, I thought, but there you go. I hope you understood.

I am getting so many low ball offers on Craigslist for my iPad in my signature that its making me not want to sell it. Highest I got was 600 and my iPad has AppleCare plus too so that was low.

The only thing Pro about the 13" MacBook Pro is its name yet it received the Retina Display so it's entirely possible that the 13" Air will get Retina at some point.

I'm thinking about doing exactly this... it just seems the Mini will fit my usage better. Waiting to see what the screen resolution looks like in person though...

I'm REALLY tempted to downgrade from my iPad 3.

My iPad sits under my bed, i use it on a night to read the news and flick through the news, it's awkward to hold when laying down and harder to type, it's dropped out of my grip and smacked me in the face many a times.

So on that basis i think i would be better suited with the iPad Mini, i need to see the display first, i've read it's really crisps so we shall see.
^This^

My iPad 3 is a behemoth. The thing is too heavy to be considered a "go to" portable device.

Yes, I know that it is portable, but it's a freaking chore to use the thing.

I will be getting a Mini because I truly believe that I will use it more. Retina?? Many of you are suckers for marketing! Yes, the pixel density is higher producing a slightly better screen, but in practicality, very few will be able to notice the difference on a 7.9" screen.

I swear, I'd have loved it if Apple would've called the new iPad Mini screen the new "Crystal Clear Iris" display! Even at 163 ppi, everyone would have been clamoring over the beautiful new "Iris" display!!

I am having the hardest time selling my ipad 3, lte... I definitely want to get the mini. I don't see it a a downgrade for me. I think the smaller form factor is better for my use, which is reading, surfing the web and social media.

I love the ipad in general and am glad that apple is providing two sizes for an amazing device.

now does retina display offer significant difference in viewing pleasure?

I spend hours every day reading PDF files for work, so to me the retina screen makes a difference. The text is super crisp and not pixelated, and it's definitely more comfortable, especially over time. To me, the fact that the mini doesn't have retina is a deal breaker, because to me any step down from retina would be too much of a sacrifice at this point - but in any case I need the added screen value for work, so I never really considered the mini in the first place. However, that's just my personal opinion based on my own use pattern. I think it's perfectly understandable that many value portability over retina.
