Of course, then you have to put up with Windows 10 spying on everything you do, and dealing with the Windows 10 interface. If I could use a windows machine and put El Capitan on it, I probably would. I'm not too interested in trying to make a Hackintosh. And of course, there is not a lot of difference between a late 2013 Macbook Pro and a late 2016 model except in the graphics card. and the reality is that if you need real graphics, then you might as well spring for a Bizon2 and run a separate monitor. then you can get 9 teraflops instead of 1.8.

For me it always comes down to dealing with Microsoft Windows. I have Linux Ubuntu, Windows XP and 10, and El Capitan on different machines right now. I much much much prefer El Capitan to any of the others. Linux is just plain dull. Windows XP is serviceable but old. Windows 10 is scary about the data that they are collecting on me without my permission.

We are beating a dead horse here!
He shall move his excitement and attention to surface pro forum ,there is nothing to atract him here if he doesn't like Macbooks .

I'm about to sell my 2015 rmbp and 2015 rmb. I've fallen totally in love with my Microsoft Surface Pro 4 and Surface 3. They are so superior to the Macs and Windows 10 is far more flexibile than OSX. As for the Surfaces, light, fast, touch screen, 2 in 1. Apple has fallen SO far behind. I know all the fan bois will attack me, but hey....

don't waste time selling them! just send them to me and I'll take care for them with love, kindness and understanding. also I promise to enjoy using them (with mac OS) very much!

what do you think about my offer ? just say yes and I'm sending you mailing address :D
remember! I'll take care for them with love, kindness and understanding! there is no better deal...

Mac user since the days of the Apple 2 -- the 80s -- so probably looong before many users on here. Went to Windows a couple times but always back to Mac, which should also give you some idea of age. I'm a writer, so that has always been my main use, along with research, etc, so never needed power. My Surface Pro 4 is the M3 model, and my Surface 3 is the atom 7. The former is superior to my rMB and I don't really see much difference with my rmbp for my use. The Surfaces are just superior in my opinion in terms of attributes and OS. And for a LOT less money. Bought the 4 on eBay bundled with everything, brand new with full warranty for $500 from someone who received another one as a gift. Same with the Surface 3, New, bundled, full msft warranty, $355. The Surfaces are considered the top 2-1. Read some reviews if interested, or Watch a couple of Youtube videos or try them out at a store. I'm not a msft stock holder, but do have appl stock. I'm far from being the first to make the move back to a windows machine from apple.

Thanks for the info, glad you are happy with them. Sounds like you are not running anything demanding so it's probably a good fit.

I had a fully loaded surface pro 3 and it was no use for me. It was hot in use and the keyboard was uncomfortable to use on my lap and the touchpad terrible at a desk. Windows 10 is better now than it was a year ago with the anniversary update but there are far too many issues with external displays, the dock, battery failures and the sleep of death. Plus side Microsoft support is pretty good when is does **** up. I punted mine after a few eeeks as I just wasn't using it.

I work in IT and we have provided over 100 surface pro 3 and 4's over the last 2 years. Microsoft have replaced 37 of these so far, 11 with screens separating, 18 with failure to charge and not enough battery life to run the fixed firmware from Microsoft support (pmsl at that one) the rest were button failures and dead screens. Microsoft replaced them all with new units so kudos for that. Not had a failure rate like this since a bad batch of Lenovos.

Hey! I offered twenty dollars! He could pay for most of a dinner at TGI Friday's.

Seriously, if you prefer the Surface Pro, that's ok - a lot of reasons to love that computer (though I'm not sure why you'd own both a 4 and a 3). In terms of superiority - well, that's a matter of personal opinion. Trust me, they're not superior to me - but if you prefer them, hey, by all means use them instead.

As for the last comment, yes, I was shocked how many people "attacked" you. Just look at the posts above - personal insults, calling you names, calling you a fanboy, it was horrible.

Oh no, wait. That's not what happened at all.

So much for the "Apple fanboys attacking anyone who doesn't like Apple" theory. As I've noted time and time again, it's exactly the other way around.

People seem to be having more than the usual number of problems with the 2016 MB Pros also.

Do we know that as a fact? What I mean is that it's kind of hard to divine what the actual state of affairs are by reading online comments. I've had problems with every Mac I've owned back to the Macintosh Centris. Most people who own things get over glitches if they're fixed relatively quickly.

Most of the time, I'm too busy happily working on projects I care deeply about to spend much time on Macrumors. I'm only here when something about my equipment is pissing me off or I'm uncertain about my purchase decisions. I'd guess that's what a lot of people are like so it's hard to tell what's going on based on a MacRumors show of hands.

I'm waiting for delivery of my new 15" tbMBP. That means I'm nervously browsing for advice on accessories and for evidence that I made the right or wrong decision. In about two weeks I'll have a pretty good idea whether I made the right decision or not. If I did, I'll probably vanish again without coming back to report good news.

If I'm at all unhappy or I returned my new MBP, you'll know where to find me.

Given the opportunity to complain, research has shown that 13-15% of people will complain. On boards like this is where these people go to make the complaints. Manufacturers watch the percentage of complainers in the general population---which comes from the number of people who go to an apple store or return them for actual warranty service. They generally don't do anything about it until the number actually exceeds the researched number of 13-15%.

We don't really know if there are issues above 13%. My son in law has one for his video production and documentary making business(along with a heavily modified Mac Pro), and he has no complaints at all.

That's interesting. I wouldn't even have any idea where to start on how to come up with a percentage of discontent that the complaints on Macrumors would result in. How do they come up with those numbers by studying online forums?

I would figure that they pay no attention to forums. I would figure that they, and all companies, would only pay attention to returns on the product, and repairs they have to pay under warranty. Everything else is just fluff.

The original Surface was complete crap. But it seems Microsoft has done it's homework and came out with better hardware. I'm currently typing on a HP business class laptop. It has Windows 10. It's complete crap. Aside from the normal quarks that could be due to the lower specs of my laptop, the updates piss me off more than anything. You have absolutely no control over them without being set up in an enterprise environment. Many times I've been in the middle of something and BAM - laptop reboots itself and installs updates without warning. Yes, I may have had something a few days ago, one message about updates, but then nothing until it reboots.

When I go back to my 2008 late MBP, it's amazing how much smoother the operating system is compared to what I'm currently using. I really want to upgrade but that's another story.

Good luck with your choice. BTW - the Apple ][ wasn't a Mac. The Mac didn't come about until after the Lisa failed.

Ah, in my quick reading of your original post, I thought you had mentioned that they did factor forums into their analysis. You didn't. That was just me reading badly.

It took them a few iterations to get everything in place but the SP3 was an excellent product. The Surface Book is also a great laptop and in many ways is giving the MBP a run for its money.

Your post was more likely of 16 year old kid -get a grip do the switch we don't need to know about it -starting fire discussion at "your age" is not needed!

keep that head buried in the sand. you are laffable.

I find the endless discussion over the vast supply of dells, surfaces, HP's as alternatives to be amusing. Its as if the software means nothing and its all about hardware. If the only thing you care about is the hardware, then by all means don't buy a Mac. We buy a mac because its the only way to use the OSX interface easily. Windows is a royal pain, constant looking for drivers is an issue, their constant spying is a problem, their continuous updates that you don't want is a problem, their continuous impact by various malware and viruses is dangerous....

But if all that is important is cheap hardware, and you can deal with Windows with all its very serious shortcomings, then discussion about buying a mac is pointless. Buy all means buy a PC---they will always be cheaper.

I went back to PC primarily a year ago and I have no regrets. The only issue is that having a mac is still necessary for me to compile iOS apps.
