The phone won't go dead, but all of a sudden the sellers phone will display no service for no reason. "And this will continue until the seller calls their carrier to activate their old sim again?" No. The Seller won't have to call to activate again. The seller would have to call Verizon to terminate the number and contract rendering the buyers phone a paperweight. "the buyer will have a new phone that the seller is paying service on?" Yes until contract terminated.

If this is all true, I'm amazed there aren't horror stories about this sort of thing. I always thought you could just sell the phone and the SIM couldn't activate unless you punched in your apple ID and pw. I didn't realized it activated as soon as you booted the phone, no ID or pw needed.

When upgrading your directed to the ATT activation's page.

The phone wont be activated unless you go here: https://www.att.com/checkmyorder/activations/activateDevice.rt

Then you enter your information. My last upgrade 2 weeks ago told me to go there and once i did the activation killed my old sim and the sim inside the phone started working.

Note the paper says after 7 days they auto activate the sim so you would need to go to the store and get a new sim.

So the consensus is that who ever buys the phone has to take out the supplied sim and put in their own otherwise the sellers other phone will go dead and the buyer will have a new phone that the seller is paying service on? And this will continue until the sell calls their carrier to activate their old sim again?

This doesn't sound right.
That's the transfer of service with one phone gets activated the old one dic that's the transfer of service with one phone gets activated the old one dies.

No the phone is fully paid for no contract attached to it. BUT if the phones bought with a payment or finance plan than that's a big issue for buyer

You're confusing the two process. The activation process and the set up process are two different things. You can put in your Apple ID and password but that's for the iPhone set up process. that's not the activation because the phone is already activated.

I've sold many iPhones. I always remove the sim and cut it into little pieces and flush it. I have unlimited data on two lines so I take no chances. I would never send an iPhone to an eBay customer with the installed sim. Good luck

People want sealed phones only.

OP you should of bought the T-Mobile version that's what I did. It's not tied into my AT&T account.

There will not be nearly the profit with the 6s that there was with the 6. Just an FYI for everyone. Since it will be much easier for Chinese Indian Mid East/Africa and Russians to score an unlocked model the market will be more flooded

Not all t mobile phones work on verizon. But I know for a fact my 6 Plus Verizon works on T-Mobile & AT&T and many other gsm networks.

I have an extra Tmobile version from Apple that I bought. Is this one ok to sell sealed?

It should be. When I purchased my T-Mobile phones it didn't ask me for my account/phone number so there's no account tied to it.

Does the T-Mobile model work on Verizon LTE these days?
I read that the T-Mobile and att unlocked can only work on GSM. The new att has a new band 30 so that's the advantage of att to T-Mobile right now. The Verizon version can work both in GSM and Verizon. Sprint sucks so there goes that.

The t-moble version will work on verizon. Verizon now activates unlocked iPhones and nexus phones on their network, even if they were not originally verizon phones.

Slightly OT but isn't selling a cellphone on eBay today just opening up a whole can of hurt? Between chargebacks, poor ratings, etc, I am under the impression that it's not worth the effort and would much rather sell on Craigslist instead. Different kind of effort involved but at least you know that your sale is final...

I like dealing with craigslist for the reasons you mentioned. Once I sell my phone, I want to know I am done with it.
