Improved sleep tracking. If that doesn't ever improve, the Ultra 2 I have right now may be my first and only Apple Watch.

Thought estimated blood glucose would be so interesting that I'd be willing to try it nonetheless.

Blood pressure too. Both of these are things I have low confidence in being reliable, but if someone's going to do it, I'd want to experience it for myself.
Hi! What would improved sleep tracking look like to you? I like how a few versions ago watchOS started breaking down sleep in to different phases (used to just be awake/asleep), so unsure what more they can do- then again I’m no expert in this field. Interested in your insights :)

As per the title.

I’d like a sensor/function that can measure your stress level.

You?
Check the app Athlytic, it gives you stress level.

As per the question: a significant increase in battery life. My 2 days (AWU2) is ridiculous.

Rest of potential stuff is good to have, but not really a big change. And I don't expect glucose levels this year, or in the coming years.

I’d like the 10 to get rid of the large bezels around the screen (such a step back compared to the 7-9. For the Ultra 3, a slightly new design/thinner with same battery life or same thickness with improved battery life, and a larger screen.

Apple Watch does really good sleep data, but it's not nearly as good at sleep detection. If you take naps, have abnormal sleep patterns, or have a low resting heart rate, you'll quickly discover that it often thinks you're asleep when you're not and vice versa.

I came to Apple Watch by way of Fitbit. Fitbits are considerably better at tracking when you're awake or asleep. They're just as erratic at first, but they seem to learn from your patterns whereas the Apple Watch continues to make the exact same errors months later.

Oh yes. If I sit on the sofa playing Balatro for a while, it thinks I’m napping. I use AutoSleep and every night before I go to sleep I go and remove the ‘naps’ from the day. But that is a software issue. I’d just like the ability to disable it.

I have a black S10 bought on release day, it looks new, works perfectly (apart from the phantom naps :p), battery capacity is 99%. I charge it before sleep, which takes less than 45 minutes during which I am not active anyway, and if I sometimes forget to charge it’s still around 15% in the morning without me using power saving. I’ll consider upgrading when they invent a magical sensor to actually measure blood pressure without a cuff, good luck with that.

Having upgraded from a AW6 to AW10 last year it would need to be something significant to persuade me to upgrade later this year. I’d only really consider it if an upgrade offered one or more of the following:

  1. Accurate blood pressure monitoring, which I think is highly unlikely on the wrist.
  2. Battery life improvement. I’ve been considering switching to Garmin for this reason. I’d love the AW to last a week with normal usage.
  3. I would consider switching to the Ultra 3 if it was a bit smaller / thinner. Which may not be compatible with #2 above :)

As a Series 10 wearer, nothing really would make me upgrade this year as the watch does everything I need it to, plus it would be a waste of money seeing as how much value these watches lose in a short space of time.

I have also gone back to wearing my mechanical watches a couple of days a week as my interest in traditional watches has been ignited recently. My wife and I treated ourselves to a couple of nice watches and its nice to wear something nice and disconnect for notifications. She hasn't worn her Series 10 for about 4 months now and its back in its box while she decides if shes going to wear it again.

No need to. Watch upgrade cycle should be 2 - 3 years unless there is a significant "must have" feature that warrants an upgrade.

I upgraded from the S5 to the S10 and found almost no benefit to doing so, I regret having not simply replaced the battery. There’s been no meaningful update since the always-on display and I use my Apple Watch a LOT and put it through its paces.

I'll most likely be updating from the S10 to the Ultra 3, had the ultra 1 and loved it but as i'm a clutz my S10 crystal is all scratched up, don't remember my previous ones doing that, so the titanium lip surrounding the crystal will most likely help with that!

I can't think of anything off the top of my head that would make me want to upgrade from the AWU2, but I'll wait and see when it comes out. 5G and satellite don't do it for me if they're the only changes.

I'm a series 9 owner, but weighing into this thread anyway.

I keep hoping that they'll redesign the Apple Watch Ultra 3 to look better on a smaller wrist. I've tried on the existing Ultra and Ultra 2 many times, but it just doesn't look right to me. It doesn't have to be smaller, it just has to look smaller.

The other way they could tempt me would be if they brought back a white ceramic edition. I admired it back when I bought my first Apple Watch (a series 5), but thought it was silly to spend that much extra for what I viewed as a gadget. But now that I'm wearing my Apple Watch all day and all night every day and every night, my thinking has changed, and I'm willing to spend a bit more for something that doesn't look the same as everyone else's Apple Watch.

Doesn't it already do that? Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought heart rate variability, a metric tracked in the Apple health app, was the best indicator of stress that can be obtained without actually performing lab tests (e.g. cortisol levels) on blood, urine or saliva.

Edit: I should have read the whole thread before posting, as I see others have already covered most what I wrote above. In an attempt to add something new to the conversation, I suppose it would helpful if the software on the watch could be enhanced to continually interpret HRV for stress levels, and offer an optional alert to the wearer that now might be a good time for some deep breathing, meditation, or an exercise walk.

if all the so called leaks are to believed then i see no reason or temptation to upgrade my natural october 2023 AWU2 that said if you own a S7 or earlier i can see a warranted upgrade to a new release . like the iPhone model annual updates ive seen no significant change in years just a path of evolution with small changes and depleted battery performance.

Hi 🤝 no one and nothing will make me 🤣 ultra 2 best watches . It's a pity that we can't activate cellular communication on them, the watch is just super!

And to underscore the author’s point, the message above was typed out on the Ultra 2's virtual keyboard using a toothpick with a tiny bit of ham on the end of it.

Kidding... maaaaybe. :p

I'll prob go Ultra 3 as it'll hopefully get the second animation when dim and maybe a smaller bezel. A slight design change would be great also. Plus I want it in black after two previous natural Ti Ultras.

Went S10 Slate this time after two years of U1 & U2 just for a change, though I still use the U2 every other day on weight training days.

All depends on what the Series 11 and Ultra 3 offer. If there is a feature I want that only one has then that influences my choice. Likely the two will be equal feature wise this time and if so I'll go Ultra.

I upgraded from a silver Ultra 2 to a Black Ultra 2 last year just for the colour, so I will be upgrading as I do every year. I wish Apple would reduce the screen bezel on this watch and extend it closer to the edge as it's a pretty chunky bezel. Hopefully they may have done that with the Ultra 3.

There's plenty of things that could make me upgrade. Solar charging, Vision Pro style AR, and complete independence from an iPhone immediately come to mind.

...Oh, you meant realistically? Then nothing. Apple Watch was always a niche product, and nowadays it's been a mature niche product with declining YoY sales. Apple's simply not going to put the effort into making the Series 11 a mind blowing must-have upgrade.
