Does it record elevation? Are you able to test this out on your next run please?
Just curious, how are you intending to use elevation data?

Generally speaking I've found GPS elevation information on GPS watches to be pretty bad. Nature of the beast due to the physics/geometry involved. Typically companies like Garmin or Strava or even RunKeeper use third party GIS data sources to correct the elevation info once your workout is uploaded to their servers. SO you end up with the elevation info after the fact. Even with the current NRC watch app, even though Nike doesn't show any elevation data it's available once the run is copied over to Garmin Connect or to Strava, so it's not been an issue at all for me.

Where better elevation accuracy is needed you'll find watches get it from a barometric altimeter. I don't know if any apps have access to that component that is apparently in the AW.

Elevation doesn't show in the RunKeeper app, but if you have the GPS coordinates, you can get known elevation from those. I am not really a RunKeeper user, so I use RunGap or Tapirik to get my data to Strava and Garmin Connect from RunKeeper. On those platforms, elevation does show, but it is added from the GPS data collected by the RunKeeper app.

What version beta are you on? The auto pause worked for me just no audio feedback

I am version 7.6 (1000). I have auto pause turned off on the iPhone app, so that is probably why it isn't working on the watch. I expected their would be a separate auto pause setting on the watch (which there isn't).

I will turn it on in the RK phone settings and we'll see what happens.

Really wish they would get the audio feedback working, as I really prefer to get 1/4 mile updates thru my headphones .. it is nice not having to strain your eyes to see the AW display.

Although it is not specifically mentioned in the release notes (that I could find), it appears the MotiFit app now supports standalone GPS using the Series 2.

Tried it this morning with my phones bluetooth off, and it captured a route and also elevation.

Not sure that I will use it, but it's another option.

Does anyone know if they have added anything extra that wasn't in the beta, audio cues maybe??

So far I've only noticed bigger fonts and navigational changes. I'll go for a run/walk later to see if they made any changes re:Runkeeper.

Looks like the Pear Sports app got a nice update today. You are now able to get voice feedback while listening to music. This didn't work previously as the feedback would stop the music completely. Tried it and it works great. Cool part is you get a lot of configurable options for voice feedback.

Unfortunately they still haven't been able to get the erratic GPS fixed.

Nice to know they are continuing to update the app. I, like you, have resolved to just continue using the Nike App, although I still think the app on the phone has terrible syncing issues, doesn't record Nike Fuel, and doesn't calculate elevation.

The only 2 advantages of my Garmin 735XT is that is has physical buttons and has better battery life. EVERYTHING ELSE, is software related. My Garmin has no barometric altimeter, yet the Garmin app automatically calculates the elevation, although its probably not terribly accurate. The always on feature? Software and battery related.

I guess what I'm saying is that I LOVE my Apple Watch, but the developers really have a lot to work with. they are just getting it right one step at a time I guess.

At this pace, I would pay GARMIN to develop an Apple Watch app.

Unfortunately Pear still hasn't fixed the issue that causes you to lose all the GPS data prior to the pause. That one has been around since the app was first released for the Series 2. Just sent an email to their support about that bug.

I have had good luck withe the NRC app as I have only lost one workout out of about 40 due to syncing issues. Now sometimes it literally takes hours to complete the sync, but the latest version seems reliable. Not bothered by the lack of Nike fuel or elevation as I just sync to Strava and Garmin Connect anyway.
