With the arrival of Series 5, there are quite a few bargains for series 3 on eBay. I have added a series 3 White Ceramic Edition 38mm (new in sealed box) to my trusty Stainless Steel models in Black and Silver. I can’t really buy the latest high-end Apple watches,so the chance to own a pristine ceramic for about the price of a basic series 5 aluminium, keeps the fun alive! Looking through this old thread for photo ideas on band matching of course.

Nice! S3 ceramic still going strong - looks like it did the day I got it. I’m sure newer ones are faster but I don’t run into perf issues with what I use it for.

So awesome! I’ve always wanted a ceramic during series 3 and by the time I saved up the series 4 was out but without ceramic. Was so excited that Series 5 is having it again. Haha!

You can actually look at the series 5 ceramic thread for band combo pics. White is white, no matter the series! :p

Enjoy the ceramic!

That old question of the Digital Crown and the red dot again. (I have my silver SS S3 redeemed with a black dot sticker, and my SBSS is a series 2 so it doesn’t need fixing!) On the Series 3 White ceramic the red dot 🔴 is only really happy with product red bands and maybe the neutral colours. I’ve got a fair few choices left on my vinyl watch dots sheet, so do I go with the black sticker ⚫️, (copying the appearance of black S2 Ceramic, and similar to black dot/red ring S5 ceramic), or do I follow my minimalist inclination by applying a white one? ⚪️ The idea is that I can match with as many bands as possible!

I just managed to get myself a secondhand Series 3 Grey Ceramic Edition for £200. Boxed, no strap, no dock charger. It came with all the books, and a loose charger. Condition of the actual Watch is excellent!! No marks, scuffs or scratches and almost new condition.

I then managed to find an official Grey Sports Band to pair it with for £20. It’s not quite the same Grey as the sports band that came with the Edition but good enough.

I’ve been rocking a Series Zero aluminium since 2015 launch day so going to a Series 3 Edition in great condition is a nice upgrade, especially at only £200. Which is the price of a new Series 3 Aluminium Sport 38mm from Apple.

Did any of you bother adding a cellular plan to the Watch? It costs an extra £7 a month for me and I’m wondering if there’s any point. I never leave my phone at home and go out just wearing my Watch.

I have cellular since the S3...love it. Very useful when I go out in the car and park up and leave the phone in the car (Hidden in the arm rest of course). I

What a bargain! If you REALLY wanted the edition grey sports band you can just contact Apple direct and purchase through them. I did this just to get myself a brand new one in case I wanted to sell mine (which I didn't do).

It’s great that people are enjoying cellular Watch functions, although my preferred SIM card data provider can’t support this yet, so my decision to decline remains an Easy one. Even at a few pounds per month the actual data the watch consumes is most probably tiny, so I’m hopeful future arrangements will make shared-number/shared data less of a premium cost. I’ve enjoyed having messages and phone calls on my Apple watches since series 0 even though it means having my iPhone with me! admittedly it might be nice to try to leave home without my phone one day ...

Ooh that’s interesting? We can buy unique bands from Apple? My series 2 second hand ceramic has an old dirtied cloud band and I’ve Been thinking of finding a new one.. does that mean we can technically purchase the Hermes sport band too? Lol!

If you have the watch (with serial number/AppleCare+), you should be able to. I spoke to someone via online chat (replacement parts department) and then via telephone and they processed the order directly using the part number.

when did you do this and how? I want it for my series 5 ceramic as I am disappointed the band is just a standard white one.

oh do u really need applecare+? My series 2 ac+ has expired by now actually.. hmmm.. maybe i can try later when i'm home haha..

Probably not, will fall under 'out of warranty replacement'.

so I tried calling with my series 2 serial number, the guy wasn’t able to find the cloud band for me and recommended I walk into the store to get another Color haha..

oh wells...

Did you go to the replacement parts department? To be honest, the girl I dealt with initially had difficulty locating the band product code...

I spoke to the AppleCare dept I think.. but he was able to identify it was the cloud band though I get the impression he was looking for retail package.

Hi guys, sorry for digging up such an old post, is there anyone who could post a silver Milanese Loop on the Grey Ceramic?

I recently got a genuine silver Milanese Loop second hand for £30 to go with my silver S3 Nike+. It looks good and I fell in love with how comfortable the Milanese is. With that said I found a deal on a second hand Ceramic Grey for £90 trading in my Nike+.

Now that’s my dilemma, I want the scratch resistance of the ceramic especially at that good price, but I also don’t wanna give up my original Milanese that I waited years to be able to get.
I don’t know how look it’d good though and I’m afraid the stainless steel on the grey ceramic might clash quite badly.

Thanks!

Personally I think the black Milanese would look much better due to the screen being black. However, they are known to scratch anything that touches them, screen and ceramic casing included. They are therefore the spawn of the devil, so stay clear! lol

That being said, the grey ceramic is a funny creature and can change colour to suit its surroundings. In a bright room it can look almost titanium and in other surroundings, dark grey. All depends on the lighting due to the polish of the ceramic. For me personally, the pure steel looks a little jarring against the grey ceramic (example against the space grey, but it looks very similar on the grey ceramic) and is too much of a contrast due to the fact you have too many colours going on; grey casing, red crown (I have mine covered with a black dot instead), black screen AND silver lugs.

I currently rock the following with mine: -

An Amazon brown leather band with black hardware (to match the screen)
Apple Edition Grey Sports Band (the one it came with)
Nike Black/Grey Sports Loop
Apple Charcoal Leather Loop

That was my exactly my thought. I’ve noticed that the more photos I Google of the thing the more hues of colours come up depending on the lighting! That’s why I was wondering that. I thought maybe the Milanese Loop in silver would actually look ok considering how much the colour changes depending on how the Watch is lit.
On the other hand if in some situations it could look good, in others it might look terrible just like in the example of the Space Grey.

I thought I was gonna nail a sapphire display and a scratch resistant body for cheap but I might be better off staying with my silver Nike+ until I find a similar deal on a stainless steel...ending up with a better look in the meantime I wait.

Great post, have you got pics with the Apple Charcoal Leather Loop please?

I'm looking for a nice classy strap for my S3 Edition Grey Ceramic. I have a bunch of Sports Bands from my older Series Zero. I'm currently using a Grey Sports Band (not the official Edition version but still original Apple).

What do you all think is the best looking Hermes strap for the S3 Edition Grey Ceramic?

Not my picture, but...

I use a Hermès style band from Amazon, which has black hardware to at least match the screen...

Here is a quick picture I've just taken of it...

Thanks. Yeah that Leather Loop looks good. It’s not available anymore though. Just regular “Black” colour is available. I wonder if there is a difference in the shade.

Some guy on here compared all the grey shades of leather loop against the black, but that was a while ago now...
