Its a box. Personally, only on a tech forum would this actually be discussed, for everyone else, they just want enjoy the watch, they put the box in the closet for it never be seen again or when they decide to resell the watch. Non-issue.

I got a new stainless steel series 4 a few weeks ago and while I’m loving the watch I was kind of disappointed with the presumed cost cutting of the rest of it. My last watch was a Series 0 aluminum sport watch and the packaging was way nicer. It came with that nice white plastic microfiber lined shell which I still use to store bands and little accessories. It also had a great 3 meter charging cord and while I like the stainless steel accent of the new charger, the 1 meter cord is often not long enough for me to charge it where I want to. Not sure how much of this slashing has evolved over the past 3 series but I’m kind of distressed by the cost-cutting they’re engaging in while raising the price at the same time.

We have enough garbage in the world already. Don't need more.

My second generation iPod was one of the nicest things I’ve ever opened. Almost an experience.
Exactly same here - that was the first Apple product I bought; the consideration in the quality of the packaging, presentation (opening the box was pure theatre), and accessories (a soft bag for the iPod, a cleaning cloth) were what made me consider and turn to Apple products instead of pcs. But the manufacturing world has changed, I guess, and we’re going to have to get used to spartan packaging.

Less and more eco packaging is always better. Yes I know it’s kind of a stupid comment given we’re talking about pretty needless devices.
For most people a meter is more than enough to charge on the bedside table.

Personally I thought my series 4 watch was packaged very well and offered a nice experience opening it all up, I understand it didn’t come with a plastic box but it’s a watch to be worn on the wrist so a box is rather pointless, though I’m sure it would have been a nice experience opening up a posh plastic box to get to the watch & accessories also.

Adam.

Yep no gripes about the packaging at all.
Idk don’t put words into my mouth, it’s not like I hate the environment or don’t like the current packaging, I think it’s fine, I’m just disappointed that their packaging is becoming less exceptional and they’re shortening the charging cords whilst simultaneously raising the price per unit.

If you were to buy a Longines watch or TAG Huer for the price I paid for a stainless steel the packaging would be a lot nicer. All I’m saying.

Not sure if the 3 kind of ties together - change of packaging, higher price and shortening of charging cable.

I guess a rant is a rant nonetheless. No worries.

Armani would probably make nice packaging. It would be worth the additional cost for the joy of unpacking and then never looking at it again. Maybe next year (sigh!).

The quality of the S4 box is nothing in comparison to previous versions. Seriously if you have had both you will notice the difference immediately.
[doublepost=1537562047][/doublepost]Adding the strap separately makes it easier for Apple to sell the different configurations. It does not make the end user experience better.

It does make the end user experience better if you want to sell the band (because you don‘t like/need or already have it). In previous years, you had to find some alternative packaging for the band while now it sits neatly in its own apple-branded box.

How much stuff have you got via Armani? Just interested )
None any more. Used to. That was sarcasm. What difference does it make? I’m saying that the packaging doesn’t make the watch, and why raise the price for everyone just to stroke the egos of a few who will never look at the packaging again anyway, once they’re removed the watch. Now, why are you interested in my clothing? :)

Tell that to the hundreds of unboxing videos on YouTube. Obviously there is some importance to the packaging.

Considering you don’t even see the packaging before you make the purchase I’m not sure what the importance is.
That some youtubers might have an opinion on it doesn’t make it important.
