My Series 0 cheapo model came in a nice elegant plastic case lined with fleece. It was a nice unboxing process. The S4 i just got yesterday came separated in a simple box.

No big deal, but oh well.

I just think Apple have cut down on plastic packaging because of all the backlash about the environmental impact of them. That and to save some $$

I think that is exactly what it is. I don’t think it is so much a conscientious effort to “cheap out,” so much as part of their “green” initiative.

But it probably doesn’t hurt that they can accomplish both at once.

The S4 is my second apple watch and I thought the packaging was nice. It's just a dust collector that sits in a closet until I will hand it down to a relative so it doesn't matter to me either way.

On the topic of the watch box, I’m actually shocked how many potential buyers are not interested in the Apple Watch unless the seller did not keep the box and literature included. I always keep the box, but it seems many pass on a sale if the seller didn’t retain the actual OEM box.

I wonder if it is because they are in some cases intending to resell it again in a market where it might be of more value? I.e. a country where they are more rare to find on the market?
