So I wanted to see everyone's thoughts:
My preorder states "Order in Progress", and delivered by Sep 28 - Oct 2.
However, doing the UPS tracking trick, it shows that my watch will be delivered on 09/21/2018 but the "To:" is not my location (it shows SANTA CLARA, CA).

What are your thoughts that I'll receive my watch early on September 21st?

Apple often under promises and over delivers. There is a good chance you may - you’ll have to see some movement soon to know for certain.

Good luck!

My Series 4 Watch's Shanghai vacation is finally over...now on to the United States...

If you are not in Santa Clara, I'd assume there is a shipment for someone else with a similar reference number for someone in Santa Clara.

Does it show the shipper as Apple?

I'm not able to see the shipper (or I don't know where to find it) but it shows similar locations as previous years: China to ZhengZhou, China to Anchorage, AK, United States (departure scan: 2018/09/18 23:15).

Thank you! I'm hoping so; I hope Apple will update my status today and/or send an e-mail.

I wouldn’t count on it. I’m guessing you didn’t put in your zip code when you did the tracking by reference number, so it is showing another order that only differs from yours by only the last 2 digits. A few other people have encountered the same issue.

I hope I’m wrong with that because I’m in the same delivery window as you and it would give me a little glimmer of hope that my watch might come early. While it has happened before for people, I’m not expecting much as it seems there was minimal availability of stainless steel watches for release day delivery.

Does "Departure Scan" mean it's already on the plane and enroute or does it mean it's already scanned and ready for departure?
What difference does it really make?

There is a lot of nervous energy being spent on here (yeah I am here too). But been through this enough with other Applie releases. Apple’s estimated delivery dates are generally very solid. Only once did I have a one day delay. Apple has more info than UPS is sharing. Many of the “still in Shanghai” people I bet your stuff is in transit and they are moving under a bulk (i.e. pallet) shipping number. Internally UPS knows where it is but the tracking details are not posted.

Mine is still “Preparing to ship” but still shows on Apple site for delivery Friday. I am confident they are moving but we won’t see tracking info until it clears Canada Customs. Once it finally shows up, then all the past scans will show. It has happpened before.

Mine departed at 1:22 also!!!!!

Did you include your zip code in the search field for it? If not you tracked someone else’s parcel. There could be 99 other orders with the same W1234567– number as yours.

SO, you're correct in that I did not use a zip code when I tracked by reference number; when I try to do so I get this response from UPS:

UPS could not locate the shipment details for this tracking number. Details are only available for shipments made within the last 120 days. Please verify your information.

I'm wondering if you are right, and it's just a coincidence that its coming to the same state :(

BINGO! This seems to be the issue. Crushed, by dumb mistake got my hopes up :(

Has anybody changed the delivery on their Apple Watch before? I have my shipping information in my UPS account, but typically UPS doesn't get to my house until later in the day and I'll already be gone. So I'm looking to have it delivered to my local UPS for pickup. I'm assuming I should have it go to a Customer Center and not just a store, but I'm curious to know if I change it now will I be able to pick it up Friday morning. I've never done this before lol :) thanks in advance!

You should be able to pick up Friday morning at the customer center, but that's probably not true about a UPS Store. They deliver all times of day to the UPS Store depending on where it is on the drivers route.

Only change it to the main hub (CC) in your area if you want it that day. Picking a UPS store or other location will delay it one business day.
