My Ex who I am still in regular contact with told me that her house appears 20-25ft off the accurate reading, and that yesterday while out in the valley she was 15ft off the correct reading. I don't own an Apple watch to verify this but it does seem like a real issue and probably a hardware flaw with the way it handles barometric pressure. They might be able to hone this in but there will probably always be some whacky readings, sorry to hear you guys are having issues too.

Also, out of context the line "Interesting. The elevation of my house seems to have dropped 15 ft." sounds like a disaster event...

Mine is still way out, but I haven’t left the house. I’m going out soon so will see if it recalibrates.
Fingers crossed it works for you. Mine was horribly out to begin with as we discussed a couple of weeks ago but it’s got better and better as I’ve been out more - running or walking on GPS ( watch or phone ) and regardless of which app I use - Apple / WorkOutDoors / Strava.

Well after 3 weeks of perfect behaviour now the pressure dropped and it’s 3 days I have +100 meters on the compass app. WOD and other apps still perfect though. Definitely a problem of the compass which updates or calibrates when it’s not given to know...

I’ve stopped looking now as the elevation is always spot on throughout an activity. The elevation via my compass app is mostly very accurate and only veers away prior to recalibrating occasionally. It seems to recalibrate more often on rising barometric pressure than falling pressure. Whilst it’s not perfect, it is way more accurate than either of my Garmin watches.

I’ve had issues with my altimeter since February 8th. It does not record any elevation data during outdoor runs and walks. Elevation also just shows dashes in the compass app on the watch. I have tried everything except restoring my iPhone and sending the watch in for repair. I think it’s software related because the My Altitude app shows elevation on the watch just fine. Anyone have any experience with this or solutions?

Have you actually tried re-setting up your watch from new?
Yes I have. Still doesn’t fix it. It was working randomly yesterday after a restart but then stopped working again yesterday evening. Apple support was no help either.

Any chance we think this is better under 7.4? I haven't seen significant variation in the complication but also have traveled far and haven't had wild swings in barometric pressure.

I updated to 7.4.1 recently. It behaved for a few days, then it went wild again. Right now it is indicating 14000+ feet higher than it should be. I gave up using the altimeter.
