Apple Watch Series 3 Cellular / Purchased 11/02/2017

OK...
This is the first time I ever checked battery health on my watch.

Settings > Battery > Battery Health
MAXIMUM CAPACITY: 100%

I wear it everyday, charge it every night.
Seems a little suspect to me... 🤷‍♂️

Yeah, this is true for my daughters 4 year old Series 3 too.

I don’t think the battery health is calibrated properly to measure the Series 3 and older. This feature was introduced with the Series 5 and makes certain assumptions about the battery and drain rate. The Series 3 battery is almost 20% larger than the Series 4 and there is no always-on display.

My theory is that this feature is most accurate with Series 5 & 6.

Series 4 has wonky readings due to no AOD but the battery size is closer to Series 5 so it’s not as far off as the Series 3.

I have no data to support this, but my experience seems to agree with you. My series 4 and 5 both showed more drop off in battery health than my 3. The 5 with AOD has dropped much faster than my 4. The 5 is just over a year old and is now at 90%. The 4 is over 2 years old and is at 94%.

Aluminum S3 + GPS
2 months after launch.

I use AOD since launch on my S6 and my battery health is at 94% after almost 9 months of use. Sounds like they might have a defective watch.
Same here: 95% on a day-one SS6, AOD always activated. Perhaps the aluminum watches have a different battery supplier, whose batteries age faster?

I’m using an aluminum as well - but the batteries do age quicker than previous models. When I sold my S4, I had it for 2 years and battery health was 91%. I’m already at 94 and less than a year in. I’ve noticed the same thing happening to my 12 though so that could be a possibility.

I have not been thrilled with the battery quality in my Apple devices this past year. Only my M1 MBA has great battery life and has sustained good health. I think it’s because they other devices don’t last as long with each charge, which leads to the battery health deteriorating much quicker. The AOD feature burns battery much quicker than in the past, and the battery isn’t as large.

My series 5 is just over a year old and is at 90%.

Apple Watch Aluminum 6 bought 12th October last year now on 95%. Wear it every night to bed for sleep tracking - pretty much a mixture half and half of AOD in the day 8am to 11pm. Pretty much only ever off my rest for charging whilst I have breakfast and showering. In almost a year I have never ran out of juice :)

I never really thought about replacing an apple watch battery - just checked its 82 pounds here in the UK which for some reason I think seems cheap...

There’s probably gonna be an recall on these watches in like 3yrs saying the battery is defective lol .

I really hope so, do you think Apple is aware of this problem?
