Series 6 redesign?

I agree that we'll see the grey ceramic again. Or perhaps a better way to put it is a color of ceramic in addition to white. But I HIGHLY doubt we'll ever see 18k gold again. I have a sneaking suspicion that Apple actually lost money on that model, given how many they seemingly gave away to celebrities.

I don’t think so.

It’s pretty clear the next generation emphasis will be on chip performance (& battery saving) and some additional health features. Seeing also they’re giving us what we want every year now (cellular, ECG, Always On) next year should be the year for Watch Faces Store at last.

Yeah, my guess is glucose monitoring (Apple bought some company a couple years back, seems a no-brainer) and 24 hour battery as well as a 1.5-2X speed boost with the S6 (and maybe that sweet U1 chip).

I could maybe see them making it thinner but considering the thousands of dollars some have in straps (easy with Hermes!) I think it will be awhile, if ever, before Apple changes the lug design.

I would hope if/when they finally do a watch face store, that the de-couple the Nike/Hermes faces from the watches and allow us to buy them seperately. Would love to have both options on the same watch.

And all 3rd party all’s will have to adapt to a ROUND screen? This will never happen. Ever.

Again, I totally agree the Series 6 will again be the same basic design as the S4-S5. It could potentially be slimmer but the shape / design will remain the same. Apple is focusing on health... they can do blood oxygen monitoring and real time every second monitoring of pulse (24/7, not just during exercise) using the same basic sensor suite on the bottom. Blood glucose might require significant changes but I know they are working on it. I think the big thing is they need to continue to aggressively try to make these watches use less power and try to put more battery in them. At the same time they need to try to get charging speed to be much faster so that you can let's say charge it 50% in 30 minutes etc. This would get you 2 day battery life and make a quick charge before sleep easier, and this of course enables sleep tracking.

The form factor will probably remain the same, at least for another generation Apple Watch before anything else is offered. I don’t really think anyone expects the Apple Watch to be changed on an annual basis, not when watches generally all really look the same, so you have two options, [round versus square], and Apple obviously chose square moving forward.

Even now with a regular shape, the vast majority of developers are NOT developing watch apps. It’s not gonna look better with a non-regular shape.

I doubt Apple will produce a round watch. It would require a totally different watch OS in conjunction with updating the existing watch OS for all the previous series. Same for all the app developers. Logistical nightmare for no functional gain.

I don’t think it needs a redesign aesthetically as it has its identity. You don’t see traditional watches being changed in appearance and some designs are 50+ years old.

Agreed. Even though the screen is way better, I even prefer the more square, original 38mm/42mm design to the Apple Watch 4 and 5, but the difference is subtle enough to not be a huge issue to me.

The new faces are much more suited to rectangular watches than the old designs.

As pretty as round is, Apple’s rectangle bubble is iconic now. And it’s more useful for info display.

I don’t think they’ll make a round model anytime soon.

I hope for a little bit bigger screen. Maybe stretch it out a little bit and also let the body move up to 50-56mm. Bigger than that will become a pain I think. The lugs will not change in foreseeable future. Not until they need bands that can have sensors, battery and other things in them for blood glucose monitoring or blood pressure.
