I also prefer the Series 9 design aesthetic. Is there any real difference between the S10 and S9 in terms of CPU performance? I know every year there is a new S chip but they recycle the same architecture every few years (S4 and S5 had same CPU, S6/7/8 had same CPU, S9 included a new CPU).

Every year a new Apple Watch comes out, the previous gen stainless steel model always drops to the $400 price. I think I will simply go with a cheaper S9 this year since I don't like the bigger bezels of the S10 (granted the "total bezel" is still the same with a different metal/glass ratio).

Yeah I’m upgrading my series 7 to series 9 I also want stainless steel and thinner bezels

The cynic in me thinks they’ve purposefully done this to give them something to “improve” on in a few years time. Apple does this on all their non pro products phone, iPad, MacBooks making the bezels bigger so the pro looks more appealing.

Did the S9 really had a new CPU?. It had a new GPU 30% faster, but the CPU I would say is the same since Series 6... If it's not the same, the difference must be ridiculous for Apple to never talk about percentage improvement.

Series 6 also had the thir gen HR sensor and we still have the same on Series 10. Series 6 also had the Ox sensor as other new feature, and a +150% more brilliant AOD and other things.

Series 7 was a great change with that 17% screen size increase and 40% thinner bezels (yup.....), 50% more brilliant AOD, 33% faster charge (like now the Series 10, but already starting from a good speed not like Series 7).

Series 8 and 9 were jokes about improvements: car crash detection (S8) and x2 nits (S9). The other new features were very minor.

Now Series 10 has some strong points, but... Those bezels... OMG... What a terrible decision. And the back of de watch case?. Now is metal and not ceramic and matches the colour of the case. For me, that makes the look feel cheaper.

This... I just hope we don't have to wait for the Series 13 to say goodbye to those bezels.

Yes, dude. And they did talk about it.

Yes, I remember that "60% more transistors"... That was something... new... Does anyone know that in practice what improvement entails?

When Series 6 launched, Apple talk a lot about that "20% faster CPU". When the Series 4 arrived, that "100% faster CPU" was a headline. But, 60% more transistors?. I am not an expert, I don't what that exactly means.

With the GPU they didn't have problems to say "30% faster GPU"...

Bezels are being overstated and certainly not a step back. It's how the display is I imagine and why there are bigger bezels

Would happily take bigger bezels with a bigger display.

Well by "CPU" I meant an updated chip. Didn't realize it was only the GPU that got upgraded, but at least it is still an upgrade. I simply went by Wikipedia which mentioned S6-S8 have a dual-core Thunder chip and S9 has a dual-core Sawtooth. S4 and S5 had a dual-core Tempest before that.

I keep reading posts saying the bezels are bigger on the new S10. Is this really the case ?

The screen is 1mm bigger from 45mm to 46mm but has the watch size grown bigger by 1mm ?
It would appear so! mind blowing weird stuff :/

Look at this YouTube clip also!

eyeballing my series 8 on my wrist against the bezel on this series 10 is DEFINITELY thicker here:

Thank you for sharing this! It looks like the "bezels" are a tiny bit smaller if you count the metal, though I'm curious how it feels since I imagine the larger glass bezel portion might make it feel bigger.

display area is physically larger on S10 vs S9 per the stats.

rest of it is smoke and mirrors from folks looking for click revenue

I think the new design looks good, especially if the watch face has a black background. The screen will appear to be even bigger.

There's no additional space between the edge of the screen and the side of the case. The glass wraps further around the sides of the case now. I think it may well look better in person.

Not sure if this has been shared from one of the hands on videos, but decent comparison to see.

Would have been more helpful if the Series 9 was one of the lighter colour metals so we could see transition from glass to case more clearly.

All in all I find it a bit odd but don’t think it looks too bad. Probably much better to judge it when seeing it in person.

I dont like that it looks physically bigger (is it?)

I know its thinner

For a fairer and direct comparison, the two watches should have exactly the same watch face and colour chosen.
Case material should also be of the same type and colour.

In any case, it's very difficult to tell by a photo taken at an angle, and the user holding the watches at different distances from the camera.

id wanna see silver sport S9 vs S10 and 'that' classic S7 watch face that shows off the trimmed bezels:

id be willing to bet based on other pics / footage we've seen, its gonna look slightly unappealing and regressive. but who knows

Curious why they increased the glass bezel and reduced the metal portion. If I had a stainless steel or titanium model, it would look sleeker to have more of that material surrounding the watch instead of more glass bezel. This is considering the total bezel size is the same anyway.
