Since I'm pretty much connected to wifi anywhere I go, and 3G is not useable in the office, I go off Edge data connection, which works fine with me. With that said, I charge my phone every other day. It's a vast difference to trying the HTC Inspire for a day, and not even getting a full day out of the battery.

I LOVE my EVO 4G, it is rooted with a great Sense based ROM, and I have a very good kernel for better battery life, But WTF  This phone still blows chunks for battery life. Right now I am at 40%, been unplugged off the charger since 7:30 am, that is only like 6 hours, and it has been a quiet day, only made like 25 phone calls, and like 20 texts.

And I bought my Wife the new Sprint nexus-S 4G, and she lost connection the entire day yesterday, her phone was a brick for calls and texts. Major issues being reported for terrible radio and connections o the new Nexus. It is not Sprint, but the ANdorid phones.

I think I might make the switch to a jailbreaked iPhone4, maybe go Verizon. But is the iPhone4 really that good for battery life ? I need a smartphone that can last a full business day, make tons of phone calls, lots of texts, and e-mails, and still last me to dinner time.

I had a Iphone 3GS, went to a EVO 4G, hated the battery life, and other things and went back to a iphone 4. My battery drops only 20% by the evening from 100%. So I have 80% left with normal use for work, emails, text, etc. If I use it heavily I still have over 40% left easily by the night time.

I usually run my battery dry by the time I get off work at 5:00... but I am streaming Pandora all day and other various tasks. My phone is in constant use, so now I just have a charger at work and plug it in around lunch time. I'm sure my phone would die by 9am if it wasn't an iphone.

great battery life.

I've gotten up to 7hrs of mixed usage at times.

About 9 hours usage here. Maybe about 50-100 texts, internet browsing on wifi for 2 hours, and some game playing for a few hours. Rarely call though haha.

I came from a rooted Evo, and I used the seidio extended (3500 mah) battery and I get the same usage with the iphone as I did with the evo+extended battery. I don't skimp on anything, I don't use the phone for many voice calls, maybe 4-5 a day (short calls) but lots of texting/push emails etc. and usually, after being unplugged for 16-18 hours I am RARELY below 50% battery.... I leave wifi on all the time, screen is at about 60% brightness, I don't use bluetooth, and I leave location services on all the time.

I am VERY happy with the battery of the iphone 4. The switch to Verizon from Sprint has been great too. I live in a rural area where Sprint coverage is spotty. On Verizon, I have 4-5 bars almost EVERYWHERE and in the places that I don't, it is at least 2-3 bars. I haven't found a dead-zone yet.... My only complaint is that the 3G data speeds seem a little slow compared to Sprint.

threads like these convince me that there's something wrong with my battery. I have almost everything unneeded turned off. I can unplug my phone, and use it for a couple of ours [usually music and web browsing] and the charge drops significantly.

Sometimes I have to charge my phone in the middle of the day to keep it from dying.

I HONESTLY, do not use it that often. I've definitely gotten better batter life with other phones [including other iPhones].

If you honestly feel like your battery isn't up to spec, I suggest taking it to the Apple store and getting it swapped. Sometimes your gut feeling is correct and i had a friend of mine's iPhone 4 battery being AWFUL. Wifi, Bluetooth, push, location, off and it would drain easily.

Something happened as well with the recent updates too. The battery isn't as great as it once was when the 4 first came out (and it's not due to the battery being almost a year old--I got a replacement)

I can't complain with the iPhone 4 battery life. It's fantastic. I get about 2-3 days of use before I need to recharge. I also have a portable RichardSolo backup battery charger in case I need some more juice.

It has spectacular battery life for a device capable of what it is. Get about 16 hours off mine with moderate usage.

also keep in mind a lot of people exaggerate their battery life claims so dont be too hopeful of somebody claiming 2 days of heavy usage.

I listen to Pandora every night without plugging it in (did it by mistake once, and it was at 80%). I charge it quickly in the morning then go all day and night without a charge.

Pretty decent battery life.

Yes, the iPhones battery life is real good. That's because it doesn't Do anything to make it bad. Like fetching info for me and updating. Everytime i go into an app, it updates. It won't update on it's own, thus giving us our good battery life. I hate this "feature".

It is good. Don't know about new Android devices but it does kill my Desire by a mile.
I listen to music for around 4h a day. Get/send around 50-80 emails, browse the web a bit, twitter, FB all on 3G and I pull 48h on a single charge quite easly.

I can go about 2 days until I see the low battery warnings; unless I'm watching a lot of porn, then I only get about 12 hours at best.

What am I doing wrong?

Fresh install of 4.3.3, not upgraded, not jailbroken, 16GB iPhone 4. 30 minutes fetch for two email accounts (Gmail and Y!Mail). CNN App push notifications. That's it- nothing else running in background.

With ~30 minutes of light web browsing (mostly forums and blogs), ~10 calls (each around 5 minutes), and looking at several emails, my phone dies at 6PM (off charger at 8am).

My 32GB isn't any better (although to be fair that thing is jailbroken and a crapton of mods and tweaks and background apps on it).

My Motorola Atrix 4G can easily go 2 days with the kind of usage detailed above.

Judging by the posts here I should be getting years out of my battery with that kind of usage. I guess I'll have to get a new battery or something :(

Do you clear your backgrounding bar at all? If you get sbsettings with a jb you can see how much memory(ram) is left in your phone. you typically get about 350 mb of ram when you turn it on. After you run a lot of apps and forget to clear the backgrounding dock thing it can get under 50mb. Clearing it up brings it close to, if not, 350 depending on your settings. So clear the dock regularly ( I do it after eveery few apps) and your battery life should improve. Also hard restart it like once every couple of days.

It's Good +1

I can get up to 48 hr - some on wifi, some not - if I am not streaming a bunch, with a couple of hours music each day, do what I want on the web, talk maybe 30 minutes and clear out and send about 40 emails total a day.

I can confirm these other posts with my own experience. It's pretty good to be honest. I hope you figure out how to fix the battery issues on your Evo. Maybe you should install Juicedefender or something and see if that helps. Kinda sucks that a overall good phone has bad battery life.

Are you in an area with bad cell phone reception? If reception is bad, like some places in San Francisco, the battery drains faster than usual as the phone keeps hunting for a connection.

My stats just now, I have charged my phone with 14% left her are my stats

8 hours 30 minutes usage

2 days standby

So more since the update improvements

Umm 25 phone calls doesn't seem like a very "quiet" day to me. I'd say with that many calls that is about where you should be...

I can get two full days out of mine with normal use. With heavier use (I sometimes stream Hulu and Netflix over 3G on the train) I can at least get through two shifts of work and then charge it when I get home. But I always have my charger in my backpack, so it doesn't matter if my battery goes dead at work.

For heavy users just buy a portable battery charger. They are as cheap as 8 bucks on amazon for something with 1900mAh. Or buy a case with a built in battery.

My iphone 4 battery isn't as great as I would like but I'm a pretty heavy user and always have max brightness + full backgrounding of certain apps. The one thing I don't do is play games, which would probably cripple me even more. With wifi on all day long I get about 12 hours before hitting the 20% notification and while battery cases are heavy and bulky, I don't really care. I use a mophie and it works great.

Yes, lasts longer than any other phone on the market, and I have been talking to friends who had various other phones, Droid, Droid X, Atrix, Samsung with Android, or BB phones and when they switched to an iphone 4 either on VZ or AT&T, they say the battery life is way better, especially the droid x seems to suck battery life, and so does the Atrix.

Apple engineers design their own batteries from ground up, and it shows in their MacBook, MBA, and MBP they get the longest battery life over any other laptop out there.
