Retarded thread by a retarded thread starter. So you believe everyone here is making it up? You're such a fool. I cannot even make a call with the phone in my left hand, yet you claim im lying and full of ****? Please! FO apple fanboi!

Clearly in your case it's not the phone at fault, but your conductive personality :)

And, as has been pointed out many times, it's in fringe areas where the death grip really comes into play, so it will happen to hundreds of thousands of users by the end of July when they need the phone most. The outcry will only gain momentum with more users.

And I'm not a hater, I bought all three generations of iPhone on the first day, save for this one because I wanted white. :)

So Steve should have said "don't hold it that way in fringe area's".

Eh, the antenna issue is "an issue," but I don't how how must other people feel about it, but here's my thoughts.

I almost never am holding my phone when I receive a call (I know crazy huh) it's almost always in my pocket, it rings, I pick it up. When I'm actually talking on the phone because I'm right handed, I don't have this problem.

The only time i have a significiant drop in strength is when I'm browsing and do hold the phone tightly, so I don't do it that way, and it's fine.

If it's for you it is, if it's a dealbreaker it is. To each their own.

Gotta say I agree with you. There is an issue. I've had two iP4's and was able to make the bars drop via Kung Fu grip on both of them, but not had any call or data issues (and I'm left handed). There may be something more physiological to this that causes some to actually lose calls where as others only see the bars drop. Environment, diet, humidity or political affiliation might play a part :)

I would be shocked if Apple engineers were not pulling all-nighters for a few nights now trying to determine exactly what's going on and how to fix it.

I'm sure they are, but Steve should not have responded the way he did. That was a genuine Biden moment he had.

The OP and everyone from his camp just need to be banned from these forums. Clearly they are incapable of rational thought; what business do they have being involved in a discussion?

I take it from your statement that you feel free speech is not a right in this country. By golly yes, let's only let the people that agree with you use the Internet.

While it's a shame for people who are suffering the antenna issue, my iPhone 4 is spot on ... no sign of the issue on O2 here in the UK.

I was in Glasgow City Centre this afternoon, full five bars on 3G, and had the phone's lower left corner inside the palm of my hand/pad of my thumb for a good five minutes to test it and the signal didn't drop a single bar.

The thing is though, it's an area of the phone that left or right handed, I never touch while holding the phone.

In my experience iPhone 4 reception is about the same as iPhone 3G. For me it does not depend at all on the way I hold it.

To the OP and whomever thinks that this isn't a real problem... I was on the phone with Apple (on speakerphone with the phone on a table). The upper level tech guy told me to hold it like I normally would and keep talking to him, but to not keep going until we would be disconnected. When I did it and put the phone down afterwards, my bars did go back to 5 very fast and the tech guy said I was breaking up to him big time. Would that be a problem to you? It is to me. I may have "only" paid $200 for the phone, but it is a phone and not just a handheld game system and I expect the phone to work.

What would happen if it was a HDTV and you were having big problems with it? Would you complain? Of course you would. What would your reaction be if someone from the manufacturer said, "You're watching your TV wrong!"

Being British I personally find all this complaining quite warming. Complain away, it is our natural and inherent right/duty as consumers.
