I am one of the people who went from an iPhone 5 to 6 and now have a 6S plus on the way. I think if I had gone to a 6 plus last year I would feel the same as you. But now having owned and got used to the 6 I am feeling like I need and would love the larger screen.

I would definitely tell people who were going to blindly buy the 6s+ to definitely try holding and if possible pocket testing them both beforehand as I remember last year my first thought for the 6 plus was oh wow this is huge. Now a year later I've ordered one!

This is exactly what I did. But mostly because the 6 screen size seemed to small after a year of use.

About 3 bars but I get the same battery life primarily using wi-do as well.
3 dots (the iPhone doesn't have bars mate) are a good reason to have a slightly reduced battery life (compared to a full scale signal strength).
Quite strange if you have the same battery life under wifi....

I only used the "bars" term since it's more clear for most people. ;)

Anyway the battery life doesn't bother me so much (there are chargers aplenty everywhere) but I think I'll go with the 6s Plus for the OIS and easier camera control in pro apps.

Greater contrast? I tried both in store, and the 6s definitely does not have better contrast than the 6s plus. Screen-wise in terms of brightness, sharpness and contrast (and maybe even colors), the 6s plus is better by a mile.

I considered both heavily, but the battery life and OIS is exactly the two major reasons I decided on the Plus.

Having kids I take a lot of photo/video and ultimately decided OIS was enough of a factor... especially in video. The battery was the other.

How old are your kids out of interest? My boy is 14 months now and I also take a tonne of pictures of him but one handed operation wins out over all because I need the other hand to keep him away from the phone!

I went from a 5 to a 6 Plus. However, I got used to the large screen pretty fast. Some of my friends have the 6. I'll use their phone when we're together (changing music in the car, answering a call or text when they're busy) and I just think "I could never go back to a phone smaller that mine." The battery life and OIS are two other factors that keep me with the Plus. I got my 6s Plus on launch day and I've never been happier.

I definitely love my 6s+ (also had the 6+). But yes there are times I wish it were a little smaller to be able to use one handed, fits in pocket better etc.

I love the + to much to go down to the regular 6s. But I do wish Apple would have a phone somewhere in between. Like the size of the Galaxy s6.

I think the size of the s6 is a nice compromise :)

It never occurred to me, an enthusiast hoping for an even larger display, that I could ever go back down to below a 5.5" iPhone. Yet, that opinion changed when I was given the ability to test the 4.7" iPhone 6s. Put bluntly, I do not miss the larger display when I'm using the 6s. This is quite the surprise for me because whenever going from a 4" iPhone 5 to a 3.5" iPhone I deeply missed the larger display, with the same being true with the 5.5" 6 Plus whenever I used a 4" 5/5s. Nonetheless, here I am jumping down from 5.5" to 4.7" and not feeling any remorse. 4.7" may be the perfect size for one-handed use: it is much more comfortable for using one-handed, which is how I use my iPhone for a substantial amount of my overall usage. I had forgotten how comfortable life before the Plus was with one hand, as I use my thumb to efficiently write this post.

Despite being concerned that the display with its lower PPI may be inferior, I also find myself preferring the higher contrast display to the sharper Plus display. The one complaint over the Plus would have to be the noticeably shorter battery life. I'm practically going from 8-9 hours of usage to 5-6, plus I do miss OIS.

I find myself very, very surprised that I do not miss the 5.5" Plus display... Which I would've never realized without trying the 6s. I may very well end up with the Plus as it is technically considered the superior phone but for now the 4.7" iPhone feels more like going back to a phone. An iPhone 6s for going out and an iPad for home may just be the ideal setup.

Point of the thread: don't go with your gut and assume one is better than the other for your own usage. Try the phones.

I was on 6 plus last year, this year 6s. I really like 6 plus but find out its not easy to carry, make calls, holding in one hand even though I have big hands. Switched to 6s, display is satisfactory, very happy with size which makes usability far easier. I still have 6 plus with me don't want to sell no doubt its a gem of a phone too. 6s does not have optical image stabilization but not missing much.

I tried both, and returned my 6s today. The size of the 6s is perfect, but the battery life of the plus is
making me switch over. I do have to wait now for the 6s+ to come in.

If Apple would make a 5'1" screen size l think sales would go through the roof. It's the perfect size for people looking for a bigger screen than the 6s but not too big like the Plus.

I'm switching from an s6 and that was the perfect size phone imo. I didn't really WANT the Plus but I can't go to a phone that is below 5 inches. Apple needs to run a survey or something, lol.

When they announced the 6+ I never considered getting it and went straight for the 6 before even seeing them side by side. I used it for 4 months or so and then started feeling it was too small and that maybe I should've tried the 6+. I then ended up selling my 6 and getting a 6+.

It does take some time to get used to the size and it isn't as bad as people make it out to be, but after 8 months using it I decided to get a 6s. Yes, the display is a lot better and battery life is amazing, but because of the bezels this thing is just annoying to use one-handed and carry around. It's not that uncomfortable when I'm wearing dress pants, but once I put it in my pocket when I'm wearing jeans or shorts it really bothers me, and I've given up on taking it with me to the gym or when I got for a run.

It took me a few weeks to make up my mind but I don't regret it. I honestly wish they either make the iphone 7 a little bigger (5.0" ~ 5.2") or make the 7+ bezels smaller.

I've looked at the 6 and 6s and they simply do nothing for me. I held one for approximately 15 seconds and knew it wasn't for me. If that was the only phone available then I'd get it, but as long as they have the Plus, I'll go with that. Hell, I'd get a 6" version if they made it.

I purchased a 6S at launch, and returned it for a 6S Plus. The screen, battery life, and overall experience is just so much better on the Plus.

A 5 or 5.1inch screen would be utter perfection. Give the the current choices I opted for the 6sand couldn't be happier. For me I am on the go a ton at work and it just fits so much easier in my pocket. The portability trumps the big screen and extra battery life of the 6s plus.

It depends on how you use your phone. I had a real dilemma choosing between the 2. The 6/6s are way more comfortable as a phone. The + is a much better all around device. Screen size, battery and OIS camera sealed the deal for me. I just can't stand the + as a phone so i always use my earbuds when making calls. Small trade off for all the other benefits.

So earlier in this thread I mentioned that I would take the 6S over the 6S plus any day due to one hand usability but now I'm reconsidering. I still love my 6s but I feel like I will enjoy iOS even more in a bigger display. I may switch to the bigger version, we'll see.

I wish the choice felt as obvious to me as it does for most people. I've used both for several months at a time and I'm still undecided. Some people suggest a size in between would be ideal, but I think I would want to keep the size of the 6s. Instead increase the screen DPI to that of the Plus and increase the battery to give it an identical lifespan. If the phone needs to be thicker to accommodate the larger battery, so be it. I guess OIS isn't important to me, but it might as well be included too in my dream iPhone. Bottom line is that I hate the choice in size must also include a chance in specs/features.

That being said, I'm currently using a 6s which I'm trying to love, but I do get screen envy when I see a Plus out and about.

I have a 6 for work and a 6s+ for personal use. The plus wouldn't be so bad if I didn't have to tote around both phones. It's mildly uncomfortable to hold, especially for long periods of time. I can really perceive a difference in the sharpness of the display, however. If the PPI improves for the 7/s, I'll probably switch my personal phone to the non plus version the next time I get a new phone.

I'm glad I went with the +! And the brown Apple leather case (for last year's 6 models) that i bought for it not only looks and feels great, but provides just enough protection without adding any noticeable weight and bulk.

When I'm actually talking on the phone, I find the plus much more comfortable and natural to hold than my 5C, or the 6S I initially upgraded to. It's definitely a big smartphone, but the more I use it, the more the size feels perfect for me. I'm loving the extra screen real estate, the excellent battery life, and the super bright display when I'm outside snapping photos.

It feels more solid and durable than the 6S, too.

Do any of you think having an iPad affects your choice? I'm in my 14 day return window with my 6s+ and it is heavy and uncomfortable to hold (digs into my pinky when resting it in one hand), and really has a noticeable bulge in my jeans (yes, yes).

The larger screen for nicer video watching and browsing, plus OIS was my main reason for going for it - but when I'm at home I just use my iPad anyway. When I'm out and about for short periods I think the smaller screen would be ok.
