It's not consistent.
Why does it make sense to have stock ipad style IOS apps(mail, etc.) be allowed to be viewed in landscape mode on the 6+ but not allow third party apps(ipad) designed to be viewed in landscape mode?
It makes more sense for a UI designed for 2 handed use to be scaled down for a device that is used with 2 hands vs a UI designed for single handed use scaled up to a device designed to be used with 2 hands.
Why buy something that makes your phone needlessly thick when you can get a thin phone that has a beautiful 1080p screen? See, it cuts both ways.
Hmmm, more heft with battery pack, smaller screen size, worse camera and resolution... Yep, you convinced me, 6S it is!

My battery pack from Anker is standalone therefore not making my 6s any thicker. I hardly use the pack anyhow, just in case it was so chaep and portable to have so I went for it. So no, it don't go both ways!![]()
Well, considerations about dimensions are quite subjective, but only 5 hrs of usage on an iPhone 6S seem to be a little short to me. On my iPhone 6 I rarely stay below 6-7 and I'm an intensive user.It never occurred to me, an enthusiast hoping for an even larger display, that I could ever go back down to below a 5.5" iPhone. Yet, that opinion changed when I was given the ability to test the 4.7" iPhone 6s. Put bluntly, I do not miss the larger display when I'm using the 6s. This is quite the surprise for me because whenever going from a 4" iPhone 5 to a 3.5" iPhone I deeply missed the larger display, with the same being true with the 5.5" 6 Plus whenever I used a 4" 5/5s. Nonetheless, here I am jumping down from 5.5" to 4.7" and not feeling any remorse. 4.7" may be the perfect size for one-handed use: it is much more comfortable for using one-handed, which is how I use my iPhone for a substantial amount of my overall usage. I had forgotten how comfortable life before the Plus was with one hand, as I use my thumb to efficiently write this post.
Despite being concerned that the display with its lower PPI may be inferior, I also find myself preferring the higher contrast display to the sharper Plus display. The one complaint over the Plus would have to be the noticeably shorter battery life. I'm practically going from 8-9 hours of usage to 5-6, plus I do miss OIS.
I find myself very, very surprised that I do not miss the 5.5" Plus display... Which I would've never realized without trying the 6s. I may very well end up with the Plus as it is technically considered the superior phone but for now the 4.7" iPhone feels more like going back to a phone. An iPhone 6s for going out and an iPad for home may just be the ideal setup.
Point of the thread: don't go with your gut and assume one is better than the other for your own usage. Try the phones.

No thanks I'll stick with the plus. I've owned the 6 for two weeks and replaced it with a plus. Haven't looked back since. I'm now on to the 6s+. I don't use cases and find the plus portability just fine. I'm glad the 6 is satisfying you though.
The ironic part is I'll probably be drawn back into the + and miss the comfort factor once I have a huge iPhone again.
In some ways I wish I never tried the 6s since I would've never known how much more comfortable it is lol.
You're probably right. Can't go wrong with both phones really. A perfect size would have been 5.2".
I have a 6+ for my personal phone and 6 for work and the difference in the displays is very evident to me. The same would apply to the 6S and 6S+ since they use the same panels.
Not only is the contrast and color saturation better on my 6+ but the increased PPI is extremely noticeable when I switch back to using my 6 and everything on the display just looks a lot less sharp and I can spot pixelation here and there. Apple really needs to up the resolution on the 4.7" model...it's the same PPI as the iPhone 4 that came out over 5 years ago!
The funny part is the difference between my 6s and 6 Plus is very noticeable to me... With the 6s having a warmer, more vivid display with better contrast. In fact I can barely even notice the +'s higher PPI. The 6s and + panels are definitely uniformly warmer over the 6 though.
How weird, my 6 (and a lot of the ones I've seen) have been on the warmer side compared to the comparatively cool/neutral profile of my 6+ which has the best color temp display of any iPhone I've ever had (3G, 3GS, 4S, 5, 6).
Your experience just goes to prove how much of a variance exists between iPhone displays![]()
I really hope my 6s display isn't a fluke since I prefer it to my 6 +. Hopefully if I get a 6s + the display is just as high contrast as the 6s.
The only reason I switched to the 6S from last years Plus was portability. I loved the Plus but had to be careful how I carried it. No problems whatsoever with the the 6S. Battery life is not as good as the Plus but I still make it through a day without having to plug it in and it has improved a lot in the last week. A 5.2 might be a more workable compromise. You're probably right. Can't go wrong with both phones really. A perfect size would have been 5.2".
How's the signal strength in the area you usually stay ?I'm quite surprised as well as I have background refresh and always-on location apps off, plus mail fetching set to manual yet I never make it past 6 hours if even 5.5 of usage on the 6s even when I only use stock apps.

That makes the difference.
