Thats because everyone knows that these protectors are meant to be used in conjucntion with a bumper or case. They do not cover edge to edge in either direction.

Without the gap, you case would cause the protector to bubble at the edges.

That's not true. The SGP Oleo that I ordered directly from SGP fit the iPhone 4 screen exactly. As a matter of fact, SGP recommends using scotch tape to remove the screen protector because there is no gap to assist in removing the protector.

I think the op either received th wrong model for his phone or his order wasn't the original from SGP, most likely a knock-off.

Ordered the SGP Oleophobic Screeny from iThough.com. I just got it today from when I ordered it 2 weeks ago (I'm from Canada btw).

I'm overall pretty bummed about the product. Nobody seemed to have acknowledged the fact the front protector is not the right fit  from the corners not fitting to the contours of the phone, to the whole length of the protector, it's too long.

Package is near perfect when I got it. Even has a certificate of authenticity inside. Sadly, it is not.

That's odd.. mine is a perfect fit. I don't know about it being authentic or not, but it does fit perfectly.

I have had them all and they all have a slight gap to the edge.

BTW...SGP does not recommend using table because there is no gap, they just suggest using tap to easily lift up the protector without damaging a corner.

Also, the ultra fine uses a new adhesive that is so strong....even regular tape cant lift it up. I had to use Duct Tape. I recommend a wet application for the Ultra Fine as bubbles are hard to get out (its that adhesive they use).
