IPad 3
8.3 OTA from 8.2

Performance Impressions: The best version of iOS since iOS 6.x. iOS 7 murdered my iPad 3 but it improved thru each 7.x release. I didn't think the same mistake would be made with iOS 8 so upgraded it straight away which was foolish. My main probs were with Safari which slowed down greatly and the awful, juddering, stuttering animations.

Each 8.x release has improved it. I'm very happy with the speed of my (now 3 year old) device. I'd be lying if I said I could remember how it performed when I bought it but thru each 8.x release things have been sped up and the device (and Safari) is... dare I say it...? fast.

Throughout all of this tho the horrific animations haven't improved. Until now. I've given it 24hrs just to make sure but it really seems to have improved. Don't get me wrong it's far from perfect, (particularly when exiting Safari by pressing the home button), but... it's smoother and noticeably better :)

Stability: Flashscores app didn't work. Deleted and re downloaded and works no probs.

Battery Life: No abnormal battery drain. Comparable to previous iOS 8 versions. They all have been similar for me.

iPhone 6 and original iPad mini? No noticeable changes.

iPhone 6
Clean install 8.3 set up as a new phone (photos are in google drive)

Fast. Smooth. No crashes.
Battery life seems great.
I only use a few apps (tweetbot, youtube, google play music)

iPad Air, Safari crashes when I click on the "post image" button trying to post on MacRumors and at least one other vBulletin forum.

Same with iPhone 6.

No issues with7.1.x or 8.1.x, respectively.

IPad 4 installed 8.3 by way of iTunes from previous version 8.2. Still having issues with Safari restarting when surfing the Internet. Other than that I see no change for the better or worse. Beginning to think maybe many of us were expecting more from the update than what we got #

I'm going to have to say that the upgrade from 8.2 to 8.3 is night and day everything seems smoother and performance seems a lot better in every aspect on my 6+ very happy with 8.3 there is still hiccups on certain transitions like spotlight oil down to landscape it still stutters but that's about it

First full day of 8.3 on my iPhone 5: animations and general use seems much smoother. Battery life doesn't seem to be affected in any way.

iPhone 6 and iPad Air 2

both 8.3 via iTunes from 8.2

Performance: overall feel is good, but then again, it was good before. Don't see huge improvements, maybe a little.

Stability: no crashes on either

Battery Life (iphone): currently at 9 hours 18 min use, 13 hours, 55 min standby, 25% left. All radios on all day, on LTE most of the day (no wifi). Brightness is pretty low, as I always keep it. HUGE improvement over 8.2

My iPhone 5S still stutters during few animations. Few of my apps like WhatsApp and Evernote are having problems setting up and customising.

Initially I felt that 8.3 has really sped up, but after a few hrs, I realised that it's the same turd.

Today I also used my bro's iPhone 5c which is on iOS 7.1.2. It felt totally different to operate. I couldn't help but notice how effortlessly it was registering taps or touch. Damn! The weather app, the music app album scrolling on it was so god damn smooth that it was hard to believe. If anyone of you get hold of iPhone 5,5c or 5s on iOS 7.1.2, see it for yourselves. Apple has definitely regressed in the name of adding unwanted hyped features.

My biggest gripe with iOS 8 is that touch feel on the UI is damn inferior to previous iOSes. It feels very inaccurate and Andriody. It's a revelation once you know the difference.

iOS 8 is now a lost cause. Apple knows it. They made changes to touch algorithm to make it future proof and they effed it up. iOS is now not fun to use as it once was.

I've got to agree with that. My father's i5 (my old phone) is sooo much smoother and responsive than my 6+.

Ipad Mini 2
8.3 OTA from 8.2

Impressions and stability - very much improved. Fast, smooth, stuttering is gone. Very pleased!

iPhone 6+
8.3 OTA from 8.2

Performance Impressions:
  • Feels faster BUT I get the Click, Pause, App Executes impression.
  • Wifi hand-off between LTE and wifi works smoother.

Stability:
  • Safari has a new nastier stutter and have frequent page cut-offs (bottom half is blank) on text intensive pages.
  • Noise cancellation for calls is more sensitive. Items like wind frequently mutes the call from me where before it just muffled it.
  • Have had a few random device crashes back to Apple logo. nothing shows in D&U for these events.
  • Having daily "Core Time", "Discoveryd", and other entries in D&U.
  • iMessage lockups and email freezes have stopped.
  • TouchID fails for all App Store transactions. Password works fine.

Battery Life:
Can't really say. It seems the same but I need at least a week plus to really tell.

iPad Mini 2
8.3 OTA from 8.2

Performance Impressions:
  • Device feels laggy.
  • Smoothness when swiping across home screens is gone - stutters.
  • In email and Safari, detail takes longer to load.

Stability:
  • Safari has a new nastier stutter and have frequent page cut-offs (bottom half is blank) on text intensive pages.
  • Having daily "Core Time", "JetsamEvent", and other entries in D&U.
  • Noticeable stutter when swiping home screen.
  • Email is smoother (multiple accounts) but takes longer to load.

  • Battery Life:
  • Can't say overall (needs more time).
  • Have noticed that Netflix, TWC TV, and YouTube seem to eat up the battery at a faster rate. Will need to look into this more.

Pretty good so far. A few new animations in messages will take some getting used to. I'm not seeing a whole lot of performance improvements though.
Stability is fine
Battery life is horrendous, as usual. 4 hours usage is the Max

Asbsolutely spot on. Can recall my old iPhone 5s buttery smooth scrolling on the Music App. Now my iPhone 6 is a stutter fest (not only on Music but on many other apps).

So my user experience was better on iOS 7. far better. Seamless scrolling was an iPhone trademark.

Is there still hesitation sometimes when initially launching third party apps? I mean does the app animation instantly spring open or does it sometimes take a half second or so sometimes to react? This was my first observation when I first upgraded to the very first iOS 8. iOS 6 and 7 never had this issue. Everything responded instantly and fluidly. I'm holding out with my 8.1.2 jailbroke phone because I love having very short to little animations! But I'm just curious if this "improved app launch" performance is actually back up to par or not!

iPhone 6 +
8.3 OTA from 8.2

Performance Impressions: Normal if not faster. Seems more smoother than before.

Stability: All Apps works fine so far.

Battery Life: Will report after a few days usage.

I'm noticing a few stutters here and there using 8.3 on the iPhone 6 Plus. Apple needs to optimize scrolling too. Such a shame we've had this many iOS updates and the iPhone 6 plus still stutters here and there.

32gb iPhone 5S. Note that I had to manually set up the device and apps since my phone would not restore from back-up.

Performance:

* No noticeable difference in speed. I think some apps open milliseconds faster.
* Swiping between pages on Safari is noticeably smoother and snappier.
* Animations in multitasking mode is smoother.
* Some apps get refreshed quicker.

Stability:

* Many mobile versions of websites are broken.
* Some apps experienced crashes/glitches - Dropbox, Paypal, weather app, Word, OnceDrive, Insensitive, etc.
* Other than those apps, 8.3 is very stable. No disconnected wifi, etc.

Battery life:

* Slightly worse than 8.2. On my average usage, it would last about 5 hours.

iPhone 6 & iPad Air 2

8.3 Update from 8.2 using iTunes

Performance Impressions: some noticeable improvement in speed and smoothness in general.

Stability: All apps except Stock Tracker works fine. Touch ID for app purchase was not working initially but turning it off and on helped. I have read that this was a server side problem and is now fixed.

Battery Life: Haven't really noticed anything unusual, it is definitely as good as 8.2 and possibly improved. On the iPad the improvement is quite pronounced.

All in all, I am happy I did the update.

Am I the only one who has noticed that the pedometer is much slower to show/register steps when using the app (iPhone 6) on 8.3? I sometimes used to open the app and see how many steps it tracked in real time, whereas it now won't show the amount of steps it collected unless I close the app and open it up again. This never really happened on 8.2, in fact it was much quicker. Same thing can be said about the amount of time it takes to process the amount of stairs I've gone.

iPhone 4s
iOS8.3 OTA from iOS8.2 (CBA using iTunes, no time, takes too long)

Pretty smooth and responsive in switching between apps.
Music app seems more fluid than iOS8.2
no crashes so far since the upgrade.
Battery Life a bit to early to tell
