What?! Where in NYC are you???

I'm there too, but look at my results. That's totally absurd.

I live in jersey, Can see NYC from my balcony like 5 mins away.

It's strange I'm getting speeds like this now, because this afternoon the speeds were awful.

iPhone 4S
AT&T
Salt Lake City

Download: 1.30 Mbps
Upload: 1.32 Mbps

Is it weird that upload is faster than download?

iPhone 4 about 30 min north of NYC

You don't get "4G" speed on Verizon, CDMA does not support it. Technically AT&T isn't even a "4G" network (that would be like LTE), but it's just a marketing term nowadays and the carriers have ruined any meaning it had. But bottom line is you will not, under even the best of circumstances, get anything close to what you might think of as "4G speeds" on a CDMA Verizon phone.

What about a 4G LTE phone?

What about a 4G LTE phone?

Sure, a theoretical 4G LTE iPhone could of course get "4G" data speeds. And will, once they make them. But they don't exist today. There are no LTE-capable iPhones, Apple won't implement that until the LTE networks have better coverage and the chipsets draw less power. Current LTE setups are notorious battery-killers.

I've been pretty disappointed in my 3G results today...

Carrier: AT&T
Location: Utah County, UT
Down: .51mbps
Up: 1.15mbps

My up speed is 2x my down speed... wtf AT&T?

How are the current Verizon LTE phones? I have read that the battery life isn't good but I have seen some fast download speeds reported. Cell phone tech used to be a hobby of mine but I haven't kept up with it the past few years. I want to get a the 4S, and I am currently on Verizon as I have been for many years. I am debating switching to AT&T or just getting the 4S on Verizon. I would like to have the iPhone on Verizon with LTE, but that is probably at least a year away.

All of the Sprint users are clearly holding it wrong. :D

All joking aside, here are my averages:

4s
Verizon
Phoenix

Ping: 100
Down: 2.10
Up: 0.98

I'm happy with mine. It is not as fast as Verizon LTE, but at least it works all the time and it doesn't drop out every two seconds. Thank you AT&T.

Fail.

As for me:

AT&T
3.38D
1.13U
76ms

That's actually one of the best I've seen. But I've seen up to 6 down from my i4. Most of the time the results are rather pitiful compared to AT&T's "twice as fast" speed claims.....generally 1.6 or less. I've had upload speeds of as low as 0.05.

Verizon download speeds today (various places around town, 2 - 5 bars, all 3G)

0.39Mbps
0.09
0.33
0.14
0.11
0.08
0.13

Ping times ranged from 22 - 408

PS, what's the easiest way to post the screen caps?
