I think Apple will skip Comet Lake-H entirely for the 16” and move directly to Tiger Lake-H once sufficient quantities are available.

I'm not starting to think they may not bother with an Intel refresh at all. I am convinced the 14" MiniLED MacBook Pro coming in 2021 will be on Apple Silicon so why not also move the 16" MiniLED MacBook Pro to Apple Silicon at the same time?

Because Apple under Cook have done the bare minimum to the Mac platform over ten years. Charging more for less.

Well if Cook is all about doing the minimum to save money, why refresh the MBP 16" twice - first with a new GPU and then again with a new CPU? That's an inefficient use of resources.

As I noted above, I am now starting to think the 16" MBP will move to Apple Silicon with the 2021 MiniLED model so this latest set of refreshes for the 16" and 13" are the last for the MBP on Intel.

Bad timing on this news, the iMac is perfect for the home worker with the display/camera/speaker setup perfect for teleworking. But who in their right minds would make an investment in a system that they know will be radically changed for the better within a year? Especially with the premium cost of Apple. Very disappointing, almost as disappointing as the lack of an iMac Pro refresh.

You could take a look at: https://www.macrumors.com/roundup/imac/

Quote from article: " 27-inch iMac shipping estimates did slip into July ahead of the rumored refresh at WWDC, but shipping estimates have been extended for several months now due to the ongoing public health crisis, so the longer shipping times are not necessarily indicative of an imminent refresh. Shipping times now range into September. "

Understood.

This is what I was saying all along. People just did not want to listen. My proof was the iPad Pro is now in to mid August for me and a couple of iPhone models are a few weeks.

So latest PC shipment reports show strong growth in Mac shipments in 2020, so might be why some models (especially pre-configured) are back-ordered for so long.

Because of Covid19, makes sense!
