So apparently the iPhone 5 is a huge disappointment, and no one is going to buy it.

iPhone 5 is really a huge failure.

I don't understand - I read over and over on this forum that it was disappointing, boring, and a minor update. Seems strange that so many people would pre-order such a disappointment.

The reason why the iPhone 5 is a "huge disappointment" is because it's pretty much the same design we've had for the past two year. They said it was completely redesigned when that's just not true, unless they count making a it a little taller a "complete redesign."

Second the specs it has, including the larger screen, mostly are all playing catch up to what's out there. One review said the extra space is very nice. Yea ok, my phone is .5" larger, big deal. It has LTE, so do most other phones.

It's not strange at all. While, IMO and others, the iPhone 5 really isn't all what Apple it as, it WILL sell like hotcakes. Why? It's a "new iPhone" plain and simple. Most of those people in that video posted last week thought the iPhone 4S was the new iPhone 5 and wanted to get it. They really thought it was improved (comparing iPhone 4S to itself). Brighter screen and lighter for instance. When in fact it was the same thing.

Again I love Apple, but I can't deny that the iPhone is getting stale now. Same design. Specs that have been out for a while now. Apple is simply playing catch up.

Apparently millions and millions of people don't agree with you.

No news, is good news

Not a surprise to see this slip.... I mean over 2 million in the first day ...... That tells you everything right there

I wondering weather it will stay at 4 weeks though...:apple:

For those impatient types, (That's probably abut 90% of these posts) it may be quicker to pop down to your local store and pick up an iPhone 5 there.

So which is it? 3 or 4 weeks?

I'm guessing closer to 4.

No reason to pre-order anymore. In 4 weeks you'll be able to walk into the store and get most (if not all) models in-stock. ;)
While the Apple stored will have sporadic stock I wouldn't be so sure about getting any of it. This launch is big and inventory will be divided up. So you can order online or hope to be in an Apple store when they receive stock

Simply playing catch up?.... Do you not realize the iPhones dual core processor with 512MB of RAM out performs a droid with a quad core and 1GB of RAM?... And had you payed attention at the press conference, you would know they only increased size by .5" because any larger and it would interfere with functionality. So just to recap, the "stale" iPhone 5 has the A6 processor, 1GB of RAM, is 18% thinner, 20% lighter, has redesigned camera lensing, and they finally got away from the stupid ass glass back on the phone. The new data connector HAD to be used in order to make the phone thinner and lighter, it also opens many possibilities for usage than the 30 pin connector. Please, don't be a rotten tomato just cause you are to poor, or were to impatient to wait for the new iPhone! :)

@techis4all
I didn't realize that you were a fandroid. It would figure that someone who owns a droid device would be trying to downplay apples success... Maybe you should stick to your little art work, and leave the real tech stuff to people that know what they are talking about! ;)

...

Personally, for those that chuck their phones around, and then say "about the iPhone no longer having a glass back" i'm guessing your the same type of people that depend of AppleCare because you know you gonna loose it.. as you constantly drop it on the back.

What do you guys do with your phones? If like getting a really expensive car, then crashing it..... would you say "oh well.. its only a 30 grand.... I can always get it repaired"

You do realise its a iphone, don't you .. not those Nokia non-smart phones ...

I kind of have an issue with people buying stuff like this, and then shouting when it breaks, because THEY did something, and use the excuse "because i don't like using a case" And most of the people who do break their iphones wouldn't have cases/ or a cheap one.

Sorry for ranting.. but i have zero sympathy for these people.. My reason is : well, you should have protected it better..

I get off early at 3pm this Thursday, then heading straight to the nearest Apple Store!

pack my stuff up tomorrow night...

Everything you just said is completely useless to those people because they were being sarcastic. Funny you actually thought they were dumping on the iPhone, like you are. You're probably just like many others who are trying to convince themselves this is not a worthy upgrade - when in reality - it truly is. :)

I have owned the 3G, 3GS, 4, and now the 4s. Never broken one, but still hate the glass back. It collects to many fingerprints, scratches show up easily. Why would I put a case on my phone if just a simple design change solves my problem? And, btw, I have NEVER purchased apple care...

I don't think anyone ever doubted Apple would sell millions immediately. I think the concern is that Apple has stopped "innovating." The big innovations were (1) iPhone, (2) iPhone4. Everything else has been, more or less, an evolution of a great idea and/or adaptation of a feature almost every other smartphone has.

But as others have noted, at a certain point you don't just switch everything up just for the sake of doing so. For most luxury brands (Rolex, Rolls Royce, etc.), the models change little by little over the years.

Here's what theinquirer.net says about the demand and now 3 weeks waiting time: "This demand isn't all that surprising given the handset's upgraded specifications, which include a larger 4in Retina display, Apple's A6 processor, IOS 6, an upgraded 8MP rear-facing camera, and a slim 7.6mm chassis, earning the Iphone 5 the title of the world's thinnest smartphone." You've heard of "the glass is half empty" and "the glass is half full" types, but this seems to be about "the glass isn't overflowing" vs. "the glass is almost full". Plus it tastes better.

Heres hoping i will be able to get one just fine in Poland next week. Surely there isnt as much demand here. Crosses fingers and legs.

Hey guys. Any thoughts on whether Apple will implement the store reservation system it has done in the past?

Reading the reviews, it seems as though the black one will be harder to get a hold of.

Don't care please bring us iMac news

Its increasingly feeling like all we is about iToys. I feel the time is nearing when they will stop manufacturing the iMac and it will see the same fate as the MacPro. Apple has done what so many other big companies do when they make it big, they forget where they came from and profits rule all. The retina MBP is what shall replace the desktop. Apple knows best and we dont know what we want so we have to be quiet.:D

Friday friday friday

Glad I stayed up late. Although a pain in the neck and a few phone calls due to lack of communication, mine will be here 9/21 by 3pm. Black 32GB :apple:

I bet they stick with the online preorder delivery to your house, since the activation process is pretty simple. I found the store reservation process a nightmare when trying to get my i4. Im probably completely wrong btw.

Well -- let's not speak too fast. Just because iPhone 5 is already an unprecedentedly huge success doesn't mean its success is guaranteed. It might get altogether too popular and end up like the restaurant Yogi Berra famously dismissed: "Nobody goes there anymore. It's too crowded."
