Yeah that's a great sales strategy. Turn people away by making them think the product is unavailable. Brilliant.
I don't understand - I read over and over on this forum that it was disappointing, boring, and a minor update. Seems strange that so many people would pre-order such a disappointment.
Most of them are too young to remember CmdrTaco though.

Oh boy, are we in for iPhone 4 like lines again in Malls?
I really hope I can still grab one on Friday!
Those geeks are largely disconnected with reality, think that they are center of the universe, and believe that Apple is keenly interested in making the exact product for their unique, specific needs (rather than address a global marketplace).
These are people who haven't seen the world and don't understand that Apple is not their mom. Apple is not in the kitchen cooking them breakfast.
Unsurprisingly, they end up being rather unhappy and dissatisfied, with a poorer end user experience because their expectations are out of whack with what a global Fortune 500 consumer electronics company can offer.
Amusingly, typical Joe Consumer seems to be quite happy with Apple products and the company tops every single customer satisfaction survey is it included in, year in, year out.
If customizability, cheap prices, and "freedom" are so important, why aren't those people with all that any happier?
Heck, if you look at the MacRumors iPhone forums and peruse the "help me with my iPhone" threads, I figure 90% are dealing with a device that has been jailbroken.
A lot of these geeks can't see the forest for the trees. These inane commenters bitching about how the iPhone 5 is a disappointment are the CmdrTacos of 2012. Nothing really changes.
Most of them are too young to remember CmdrTaco though.

I hope you are kidding, the 2 million per-order in 24 hours and demand for the rest of the world, yeah, they might be running behind.
Hope you are not a businessman.
I think apple could have done a bit better on the screen size, 4.3 at least. People won't care about various radio technologies and hidden gems running in the background! So long as it works, but they do care about tangible things like screen size.
Correct. Simple phone for simple people.Because a majority of people aren't geeks who nitpick over every technicality. They instead want something that looks nice, works great, and is reliable. I think the iPhone fits this category quite nicely.

I see a lot banks being happy with these credit card purchases with high interest rates.
If you want a powerful phone with flexibility, get an Android smart phone.![]()
Or, it could be that people are smarter than pundits trolling in the comments area of blogs give them credit for.
The iPhone is a beautifully and painstakingly designed tool. There's nothing like it. Why waste energy debating the nonsensical, like the tastes of consumers? I buy the iPhone because it's freakin' awesome, from the tiniest internal component to the largest external feature. It speaks of quality, of care, of passion--and it just. Works. Well.
Now, back to arguments about taste.
It's called sarcasm. Unfortunately it's lost on so many.
So don't spout your fanboy retorts when you have no idea about the author of a post.
Kettle me pot.
I hang out here if you want to troll.I'm definitely a fan of Apple products. What products are *you* a fan of, Mr. perfect? That way, we can trollishly ridicule and dismiss your preferences and opinions, like you do.
Hoping I can show up by 5 am and wait at my mall.
Seriously! I'm just going to wait out the initial hipster hype. I don't care if I'm the first to get the phone. I'll gladly wait a month until I can walk into a store and buy it on the spot. It's less stressful that way.
hey guys i have a quick question that hopefully someone can answer. So I preordered an iphone 5 the other day. I was not due for an upgrade so i had to pay full price. Im thinking about reselling it in order to make some money but if i do that will the person that i sell the phone to be able to activate the phone under my number? for example, say i sell the phone to you.. when you open the box and turn it on, does it connect to my number?
can anyone help?
The phone has no magic attachment to your name or number--it's the sim card.
Oh lordy, over dramatic much?
