Several MacRumors readers have reported that shipping lead times for Apple's 27-inch iMac models have returned to "Within 24hrs" in Apple's online stores in the U.S. and Canada, the minimum possible shipping window in Apple's stores. Shipping times had ballooned to as much as three weeks in the U.S. and Canada in January as the company struggled to deal with high demand and several issues related to flickering and yellow-tinting of the machines' displays, issues the company claimed last week to have been addressed.

Not all locations around the world are seeing such prompt shipment of 27-inch iMac models, however, as Apple's online stores in Australia and New Zealand are seeing 5-7 business day windows and European stores are showing as much as two-week delays in availability. Apple's 21.5-inch iMac models and other machines are shipping within 24 hours in those countries, and availability of the 27-inch iMac should continue to improve as Apple is able to push more machines into its international sales channels.

Don't do that!

When I refreshed my browser tab, I thought the Apple Store had been updated!

I am happy the 27" iMac issue is getting resolved. I have the issue with my system that needs to get fixed.

I can vouch for the very fast shipping, ordered 2/25 and recieved on 3/1 - a perfect i7 27". Don't be afraid to buy, things look great!

Any news about updates? I'm hoping the 22" models get bumped up to quad core soon. I'm thinking about selling my MBP and monitor and buying an iMac and iPad. I can get a lot more power out of an iMac and iPad is ultra-portable for taking to class. Plus I can ditch my clunky setup that wastes my precious desk space and looks unappealing in general. In addition I've been wanting a Magic Mouse and Bluetooth keyboard, which I could also use with the iPad if I needed to, and comes with the iMac standard.

Current iteration is mid-cycle, check the Buyer's Guide tab at the top of this page. Since it seems that they've gotten their footing with it again (fixing the screen issues as well as shipping problems) you could get the iMac now and get the iPad when it comes out, have a bit of space between those purchases.

Good news

This is very welcome news. As I remarked the other day, it is amazing how quickly a company can fall from graces. As a photographer, I watched Canon get lambasted for the poor performance of the autofocus in its flagship sports camera (1D Mark III). We are all witnessing the media driven fervor tarnishing Toyota and nearly bringing an honorable man to tears in Congressional testimony.

We may think Steve Jobs and team are infallible and impervious to such events, but that is furthest from the truth in our society that looks for every opportunity to tarnish someone's (or a company's) reputation.

Microsoft is saved from such recently due to its need to be careful after years of litigation. Apple must be careful to watch for media attentions stark stare to turn on it.

Even in these forums, I watch people quickly lambaste when patience might be the better part of valor. Be watchful, be steadfast, but do not be complacent.

Good for Apple. Keep up the good work, but do not hide behind successes and alienate people for they are your lifeblood.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 3_1_3 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/528.18 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0 Mobile/7E18 Safari/528.16)

Ordered my 27" late Sunday night and just got notification that it shipped early this morning. Can't wait!

The Cause?

Very good news. Does anyone know what the cause of the yellow cast was? Could it have been the backlight LEDs? I've seen high wattage, 5W in this case, white LEDs grow yellow in flashlights.

/k

Hmmm should I or Should I not buy one?

last week i had some free time and decided to look at the competition. the cheapest PC at best buy with a discrete graphics is $799. Add $180 for a monitor and you have the price of the iMac. with Apple you get a better LCD, webcam and i forgot what else. only difference is the CPU

Good, good, good. But there are STILL NO 27" iMacs in Europe! Come on Apple. I've waiting since November!!!!

27" : France Ordered Feb 25th delivery this week?

I ordered my 27" with 8gb Ram from applestore France, It said delivery two weeks but the updated detail now say I can expect it to arrive on Friday March 5th.

Fingers crossed it not a leftover from the dodgy yellow batches....

Now they've (allegedly) got the screen sorted, maybe it clears the way for a new 27" Cinema Display based on it.
