Gran Tourismo, Haze, Metal Gear Solid, Warhawk and Grand Theft Auto should be a good start if you want to justify your decision to buy a PS3. I have one. And I bought it just because I will have access to those games.

However, let me clarify that PSN won't be free forever. That was stated by the president of Sony, so, don't count on the PSN to be free.

Let me add that buying a PS3 was a really good choice for me, I am having one hell of a time playing with it. Games I own, are (among others) Resistance, COD4, Warhawk, Formula 1 and Oblivion. And I play well over the internet. I think that buying a PS3 is a really good choice, since now the devs will take full advantage of the PS3's capabilities, and the XBOX has reached a certain limit (with Halo as a good example).

Does Gran Turismo have a release date yet? As I've said, that game and MGS4 are pretty much the reasons I'll buy a PS3. I'll get GTA for 360. I prefer the 360 controller. Also, I don't mind paying for online at all - if it's as good as Xbox Live is. I'm impressed with the system every time I play online or browse the games, movies, etc, etc.

As others have said, I don't believe the 360 has reached any sort of peak.

I appreciate your post. I want a PS3, but I'll probably wait six months or so before getting one. I'm about to drop quite a wad on a MacPro and 2 ACD's. if they are updated at MWSF anyway.

It's too bad that PSN might cost money later on... but I just hope it's cheapish and they make it better before they add a price. But for now it's fine, at least the servers weren't screwed up this Christmas :).

They also didn't go from 4 million online to 10 million online.

The Xbox LIVE community continues to grow, reaching the milestone of ten million Gold and Silver subscribers, a full six months ahead of schedule via www.majornelson.com

Yeah I read that earlier too. 10 million Live subscribers is very good in fairness, and tbh regardless if we would all like a free PSN service, I can easily see that Sony will see that 10 mil x $50 and think KERRRCHING!!! and will end up charging us somewhere down the line, one way or other. As a business they would be foolish not to.

You're slipping MRU! First quoting a bad source over Warner taking money, then misreading the chart Ed posted from Amazon, and now this :D

The quote says 10 million subscribers between Gold and Silver. Remember, Silver accounts are free and require no subscriptions, and Silver accounts can't play online. There is no way to know how many of those 10 million subscribers are paying subscribers. :)

"10 million subscribers" is meaningless when many of them are Silver accounts that are used for nothing more than demo downloads.

Where does this come from? Not only has Sony never even implied they might start charging for PSN at some point in the future, there hasn't even been any reliable leaks or even rumors about it. Yet people keep suggesting it just because Microsoft does it.

Remember, Microsoft is the only company to charge for online play. Windows online play is free, as is Wii, PS3, and PS2. Microsoft is the odd one out, not Sony.

Hope this helps :D

PSN = Free, it will always be free. Playing games online will always be free, chatting with friends via XMB/in game will be free. However in game micro transactions and add-ons will cost you, whatever form those take is up to Sony and the Developer. Updated levels, more bling for your Home avatar/Home space, updates such as Shivering Isles, etc will cost. The basic being able to play games online and communicate will always be free, just because MS decided to force you as a consumer to fork out $50 to play your friend online doesn't mean Sony will.

PSN in its basic functionality (Play Online/Communicate/Friends Lists) as you see it now will ALWAYS be FREE.

Let it end here please, I'm tired of repeating myself on this subject.

I think the people who made the chart fall under the category they put the PS3 in ;)

:p

DOH!! That's cheating the dirty rats :D ....

A silver account shouldnt really be called a subscriber IMHO since you can't really play online with it, and it's free... hence I just assumed they meant paid subscribers.

Oh well.

I hope your right, but then I wouldn't mind paying if they improved the service anyway. :)
