Are you in a country that has the euro?
If so, then getting a friend to buy you one in the US is definately the way to go.
Even if he has to pay import duties and sales tax when he brings it into Europe, you'll still save over 20%.

Hey!
No man, I'm from Brazil. The taxes in Brazil are even higher: they charge for 60% of the price! So let's say if buy a US$3700 MPB + a US$500 Time Capsule, I would have to pay friendly US$2520 of taxes. Definately a steal!

Time to throw all the coffee beans into a harbour and revolt against your government. :)

Yea that's right! These taxes are a ****ing joke dude, really. Everytime I buy something outside of the USA I got to pray for the customs not to open my boxes.

Buy it now, or else...

Buy it now, unless you want all the problems of a first-gen.

No, seriously, I mean this. I've been following Apple for quite some years now (since the Performa) and guess what? It turns out that the first gen, and mostly the second revision, has most technical issues for as far as I've seen in past history.

And remember: the new MacBook Pro will be more than a feature upgrade. To implement Intel's upcoming chipset, the motherboard will be redesigned (as I've read). Fit in a new screen? New case design? New ports?

Boy, I just ordered a Penryn since I never have trusted Apple on their early-adopters stuff. And thus far...it all packed out pretty well.

So choose: less chance of problems and faster than anything out there OR high chance of problems but get an even faster laptop which is still based on rumors?

the general feeling on the Internet is that even if the update does come around July, it won't be apples main priority, and that the actual refresh will be next year, so I'm going to say buy now, its what I hope to do, as even if the refresh is a few months away you won't enjoy it as
much thanks to the new mobo and the problems that brings, one thing I would say is be prepared to upgrade in the next year or 2 when the rev b or c machines are out.

Don't wait. That game can cause permanent paralysis of action.

I recently bought a new MBP - love it. And yea, there will be some new whizbang on the new model 6 ms from now - there always is.

You can get it now or later, but its still going to happen. I got mine for Christmas but if I had waited a few months...I could have gotten some free upgrades. That sucked to say the least, but I love my MBP you will too.

I'm definitely waiting for the new MBP. The redesign coupled with the new chipset did it for me. Montevina means up to 8gb ram, higher clock speeds, and newer processor compatibility. Oh yeah, The new Nvidia chips which will run cooler aswell. Well, its mostly due to insufficient funds at the moment.

Well the new model is probably going to be a revision A product so there may be some bugs that have yet to be worked out. If you really do want the latest and greatest, and do wait, I would wait about a month before purchasing it to see what other brave buyers experience with the new model. This will let you avoid some of the more glaring issues with the new model.

That said if you can wait and all you want to get is the current generation MacBook Pro, then when the new model comes out all of the old models will likely get put on the refurb page with some nice price drops.
