I'll admit it: I'm an apple fanboy. I'll buy just about anything, regardless of price, if it's made by apple. But I'm having a hard time getting myself to buy a "Magic Mouse". I have the Mighty Mouse with the trackball, and I got crumbs and random food particles stuck in the trackball, so now it doesn't scroll. I need a new mouse, BADLY. But I won't go out and buy a $10 HP mouse because... well, I'm an apple fanboy. But I tried the Magic Mouse at a local store, and can't get into it. The lack of the side buttons for activating exposé is my main concern.

So, is the magic mouse worth it, or should I stick with the Mighty Mouse?

Noooo... Apple is a big fail on mice. They just don't know how to make a usable mouse. Do not buy! The thing is in an unusable form factor, the scroll wheel is unusable and at least from my impressions in the Mac store the actual moving of the mouse/pointer is lame. :(

Stay away and get a mouse from Logitech or Microsoft. :D

Well there is no ball on the Magic Mouse for you to get crumbs in and as for exposé you can assign any of the hundreds of gestures to it that Better Touch Tool enables. Personally, I use two finger swipe down for exposé and two finger swipe up for spaces.

It's certainly worlds better than the Mighty Mouse and I prefer it to my Logitech MX Revolution as well. It is a remarkable device.

The form factor does take some getting used to. I didn't like it at first either but I love it now that I've got all my gestures down. As for the mouse pointer, that is also fixed with Better Touch Tool. ;)

hey, don't want a Magic Mouse (and yes the extra buttons i use for Exposé Windows and Desktop) then use a damp dishcloth... or some form of wet cloth and turn your mouse upside down and roll the trackball on it :D works fine for me after that :D

I had hoped that Apple would overcome this issue, but when I went into the Apple store to try it out I would have thrown it across the room if it weren't secured with a cable.

Two thoughts: good idea then that Apple stores have cables then.

Also, if you had done so, everyone in that store would have had a fantastic story to share with their mates about the maniac in the Apple store that day...

I used a Magic Mouse for a few weeks as my primary mouse before giving up on it. I really like having the gestures and being able to scroll without a wheel or ball, but as a few previous posters have mentioned, ergonomically the thing is terrible. The reason I stopped using it was that my middle finger started killing me after using it for an hour or two (from scrolling) and was bad enough that it carried over to pain when using all my other mice. It was definitely going to be a repetitive strain injury if I kept using it. I've temporarily switched back to my old mighty mouse, which I don't like from a features perspective, but after a week my fingers were back to normal.

Many, many people must find this mouse ergonomically-wrong, as a manufacturer has come out with a "raised-up poofy ball" (my quote) that you can stick right on top of the too-thin MagicMouse.

I see this mouse as a quick segue to a trackpad like Wacom offers, but wireless and with complete gestures, and then some new ones.

I do not own this mouse, but have tried it at the Apple store and BestBuy. IMHO, this mouse is a complete fail in usability.

Looks good, the touch technology is great, but the usability is half-baked.
