Should I purchase Iphone SE refurbished on amazon (apple certified) or wait for sept? I want the SE, not too concern about the latest and greatest. I just need my phone for maps, email, internet, streaming videos, and hotspot.

Thanks

Why not buy the SE if it’s what you want and the price is right for you. You are certainly aware that there will be new IPhones introduced later this year - although i doubt the SE will see an update then.

Buy where you get a good return policy, test and return if you are not happy.

If you want to SE now, I don’t really think there’s any point waiting until September, because it’s very unlikely we will see a version two this year. Especially considering that your needs are very minimal for smart phone features based off what you have listed. As long as you have the Apple certified refurbished with the warranty, take advantage of it. It’s still performs really well with iOS 11.

You can buy it now because it seems like the SE2 won't happen. However, it doesn't hurt to wait until September if you want to be 100% certain. However, the SE is at such good price points that you can get one for about $100-$200 new these days. Depends on the carrier, but it's easily the most affordable iPhone out to date and still pretty relevant.

Unfortunately the devices are not certified refurbished by Apple and instead the seller is the one that certifies it as described in the description below
  • This Certified Refurbished product has been tested and certified to work and look like new, with minimal to no signs of wear, by a specialized third-party seller approved by Amazon. The product is backed by a minimum 90-day warranty, and may arrive in a generic brown or white box. Accessories may be generic and not directly from the manufacturer.

Once people start trading in the SE for a 2018 phone Apple can then refurbish each SE and sell it as certified refurbished.

The SE will do everything you want to do - however, I would not pay Apple asking retail on the SE now. I would only bite if there was a huge discount.
They may cut the price in order to sell it.

Very valid point, I think for SE lovers it’s now or never, get one soon.

Just a heads up for anyone interested: AT&T prepaid has the iPhone SE on sale for just $49

It’s an in-store only promotion until Sept 27th. You also have to buy it with a months worth of service to get the discounted price. I simply went with their cheapest plan of $35 ($30/mo with autopay) for unlimited talk + text + 1gb LTE data. Also they require 6 mo of service until you can get it unlocked.

I have the 8+ already and love it but I also wanted to be able to switch to a smaller device whenever I felt like it. At just $49 I couldn’t pass this deal up :)

Look for deals through carriers. Most, if not all prepaid carriers offer a discount for the iPhone SE. Not sure about postpaid.

Straight Talk offers the iPhone SE for $99
Verizon Prepaid offers it for $159

There are more. Just haven’t looked into it all that much since I have one and haven’t looked since. I got an amazing deal on mine. I use it as a secondary/backup device as well as for music streaming. iOS 12 is installed on it and it’s much improved over iOS 11. If you end up getting the device, you won’t regret it when the new OS is released. But like others have said, I would not pay full price for one.

There are loads of good deals on the SE (at least in the UK).

I'd grab one if that fits your needs.

Never been happier with any iPhone model myself.

I wish I could find it in my heart to say, wait for September! But I suspect any of us waiting for an SE 2 will be disappointed.

I would recommend that you purchase the iPhone SE now, - it is a superb phone - but not from Amazon.

Instead, buy it refurbished from Apple so that it comes with a full warranty.

Agree entirely.

Just so you’re aware, there have been re-sellers in the past on Amazon that-do sell the SE (And other iPhone models) with a full warranty included that is *direct* from Apple. You can even verify the warranty information before the purchase of the phone from the reseller. The resellers using Amazon as a third-party outlet.

If you absolutely need a phone now. Buy either one with a big discount or pick up an used SE that you can sell off cheap or give away to someone IF Apple will surprise us with a new SE.
I have a little hope :)

Is this in the United States only, or does it also apply in Europe and world wide?

I wonder if I buy one for my little sister add the 30 day plan to it then after 30 days put in her regular AT&T sim will that work?

Echoing others - get it!

It’s very unlikely there will be an update to the SE this fall - Apple will want to focus on the three new (high cost phones).

Who knows when or if there’s going to be a new SE. I doubt we’ll see anything before March 2019 if at all.

It’s always a risk getting a third party refurb but if the price is right go for it.

If The iPhone SE revamps in the future, It won’t be in 2018, It will likely be in 2019 . And if it does refresh, it’s highly unlikely that It would even resemble the current SE, being that Apple would it change the design and eliminate the home button.
Any guess or speculation are as valid as another at this point when it comes to the 'new' SE.
I've read so many speculations about it I can't even keep track, they are countless.
Everybody must love SE though. :D
But I found that link interesting as it was no speculation, just a pic.

We'll see what will happen with our beloved SE. Nobody knows.
