Maybe I should just redesign some part of the iBook G4, at least make it taller and give it better heatsinks for the G5 or Intel.

Yep, the FSBs are a lot closer between the G4 and Intel chip than it is between the G4 and G5.

Some day the OP will find the G5 doesn't have a desktop FSB, it is using a variation of a mainframe FSB, and is in reality just a pruned mainframe chip with a Altivec unit grafted on.

Really, really smart people have trouble bringing a G5 up to a stable clock. Much less being able to design a product with it.

Most companies have cried uncle and brought IBM consultants in to help them, or simply gave up on the chip.

Usually easy to spot the socially stunted teenies having nothing better to do on a weeknight.

teenies with nothing to do, socially, who did well...and some while still as teens and most definitely by their 20s

Wouldn't that sort of eliminate some of the key plusses - the ability to close the screen? The ability to type on the keyboard? The ability to have it sit level on a desk top?

Thank You jsw. I might give that idea a try. But wouldn't the intel chip would be even harder to put in the iBook G4 because it has a x86 architecture while the G5 is PowerPC.

This is his signature and follow it closely:
If you think there's even a chance that I'm being sarcastic, odds are that I am being sarcastic.

Didn't IBM release a low-power single core G5 a while back. That might still work in the iBook G4, though.

What?

It can't be done. It's the technical equivalent of a square peg and a round hole.

You're off your rocker.

I think that they did, but I don't think that it is cool enough. and when I heard about it I did wonder if it could be done, but now i don't think that it would work, since we haven't heard of anyone being successful with it, and I'm sure some tried.

I won't redesign the iBook G4 but I might modify the G5 chip once I get it. Make in some way run cooler. If that doesn't work I moving to Intel.

Sometimes it is easier to look at the kid eating lead paint, smile, and walk on while shaking your head in wonder.

Hey - one can easily fit a square peg into a round hole - if the peg is sufficiently smaller than the hole.

I think this is more like trying to get a male elephant to successfully mate with a female mouse.

You'll f'n do what? You'll just bust out the soldering iron and make a G5 run cooler eh?

Off your rocker.

What a ridiculously stupid idea.

Its more like getting a male elephant to mate with a pot bellied pig. Those two just wont mate.

EUREKA!!

There's your answer, you can fit a G5 into an iBook. All you need to do is get 'em drunk, reeeeaaally drunk.

Just pour beer on them, turn up the Barry White, turn down the lights, serve up some oysters and let nature take it's course.

Next morning voila! iBook G5.

Mate, you've blown a gasket somewhere, your head's gone bourko.

You cannot make the G5 run cool enough to fit in a notebook that is that thin. with the intel processor, you may be able to do it if you took all of the insides of a macbook and replaced what is in the G4 with that, but if that would even work,by that time as far as the cost would go you should just upgrade to a macbook.
