I’m saying that it makes no sense for them to do that. It also makes no sense for you to lie about it, so I assume you’re telling the truth but either you or they know something about the situation that I don’t.

Back in London Apple changed my dad’s 92% SE battery with a fresh battery. For free. He said since you’ve paid up for AC, the battery is free if you insist on a fresh battery.

If this was a common practice Apple would probably go out of business from the amount of free batteries they'd be giving out.

No. My 7 was at 87% and I had 1 week left on my ac plus and they did it for no charge.

Today I took my X in to get the battery replaced. During that process the rep kept trying to persuade me not to have the battery replaced. The word free was thrown around since I have AppleCare+, and I told him I’m not your normal customer and want to have my battery replaced. 1.5 hours later I came back to pick my phone up and was told my phone was broken in the process so I was handed another X free of charge and a free accessory.

If you haven’t replaced the battery already, I say DO IT. I had an iPhone 6s with 88% battery left, but battery acted weak anyway. I spent the $29 and replaced the battery. It was an amazing improvement. It acted like a new device. I bought an XS anyway a month later for the increased storage I needed. But because of that new battery in the 6s, I also kept the old phone to use as an iPod Touch where Otherwise I would had traded it in.

Nope. I even said I wanted to pay the $29 to have the battery replaced, since the rep was persistent in trying to convince me not to change the battery.

They make it so hard to change the batteries that even the people in the back working on them with the right tools end up breaking the phones. It happens more than you think it does..

I thought about doing this because my launch day X is now at 87%. But I think I am not going to simply because the likelihood is too high that the tech will end up breaking my phone and then issue me a new/replacement. It's way too much of a PITA to put everything back on my phone starting from scratch. My apps, pics, music, etc. The way I see it, I have my phone powered off during the day when I'm at work anyways. Plus I have a Maxboost battery case if need be. I'm just going to stick it out until next fall when I upgrade.
It's as if the rest of the market didn't take a tumble.

Still doesn’t change the fact Apple aren’t selling no where near as many phones as they used to.

Yes.
Next year, higher price and, if the old policy returns, they'll only do it if they agree it needs doing, which means that they probably won't do it when you want them to.
Went to the Apple Store yesterday,Christmas Eve, and they didn't have the battery in stock. They did the diagnostics which passed and ordered the battery. They also put on my notes that if the battery was to come after New Year's, to honor the $29 price. I'll update when I get the battery replaced.
Battery came in two days later and was told that they could only reserve my battery for a week. If not, they would give it to the next person.
Went last night and was told to come back about two hours later. Came back and inspected my phone. Battery health was at 100 percent and tested 3D Touch, camera, Face ID, the buttons. Checked the glass if it was flush. Everything looked perfect. They said they also replaced the speaker and cost was $29 plus tax. Left the store feeling like I got a new phone. So glad I went, thank you all for the advice.

I am adding onto my earlier post. I took mine in on Dec. 21st. for battery change long story short ended up with new iPhone X. I had the phone for around 10 days everything working great as it should with a new phone. I was out of town over the weekend spending time with my family. I woke up Saturday morning having had my phone charge over night. I looked at phone and it had not charged at all said 32%. I tried most of the day trying to charge it. I let it go down to 0 and thought if I plugged it into computer that it would charge but it only charged to 8% and stayed there. The phone was only 10 days old at this point. So later that night decided to go to nearest Apple store 40 miles away got there about 7:50 pm no appointment. The store was not too busy and they said they could get me in but they close at 9:00pm. Ended up near closing they decided to just trade it out for me because I was worried this would happen again. In the end it was a new phone with 90 day warranty which is why I was able to get another one. They even put a NEW screen protector on it for me. I thanked them for taking care of me. Just really weird that this happened with only a 10 day old phone.

Apple dropped 8% today. Amazon,google and microsoft all have larger market caps now. Care to explain this?

The overall market is still quite a ways down nonetheless. That said, there are certainly better threads for it all.
