I would never trade my 13" MacBook Pro for anything, unless I was living on the street and needed like $600 bucks.

This computer is made of scraps and leftovers!

Celeron? Where did those come out? Like 4 generations ago? and 3 gigs of ram? Who puts in 3 gigs? I guess they had a whole bunch of 2 gig and 1 gig sticks but not enough of either to make an even number.

I don't even need to try it out and I know I'd be disappointed by this thing's performance. Win7 is a great OS and all but it's still a resource hog and trust me, this little lappie doesn't have much resource to spare.

You can find much better deals online. Spend a hundred dollars more and you'll get double to performance. And what the hell man? You should be staying away from HP at all cost anyways. The hierarchy of Windows PC builders? Hp used to mean quality but these days it means huge ass gaps in chassis and trackpads that give you blisters.

Asus
Acer
Levno
Dell
Gatway
*smaller vendors*
*PC noob*
HP

Are you kidding me? That Celeron is 2.2 GHz dual core, not single core, and you obviously don't know your Intel processors.

300 dollars for that computer is an absolute steal. 300 dollars wouldn't even give you an Apple iPod Touch.

Apple is a luxury brand, not a value brand, and some of the arguments in this thread are ridiculous.

As iBookG4user said and linked it is a SINGLE CORE processor. Screenshot from Intel's website included. And here's the link as well Celeron 900

It's the Penryn-3M: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_o...2Penryn-3M.22_.28standard-voltage.2C_45_nm.29

The description was "Intel Celeron Processor 900
Provides 2.2GHz speed, an 800MB frontside bus, and 1MB L2 cache"

Which doesn't specify if it's 64 bit or not nor does it specify dual core or not, but this can easily be figured out with a google search

And if you do a google search the first link is to Intel's website which clearly gives you all of the information that you need about this processor, but you obviously clicked on the Wiki link.

Before you tell me that I don't know my Intel processors check your facts about them. And just to let you know I am a Computer Science/Electrical Engineering student who has INTERNED AT INTEL for a summer!!!

You actually might want to take a look at Intel's website. The Celeron 900 is a single core processor. You obviously don't know your Intel processors ;)

Thanks for watching my back there.

Well I didn't buy it and it's too late now. That cheap computer had more specs than my mac, but I do like the mac. Maybe I'll just buy windows 7 and use boot camp. I can get it for $30. Does anybody know how windows is compared to snow leopard?

I've used Windows 7 and will admit I like it, but it's not close to Leopard in my opinion. FYI, in 6 minutes Amazon is having a computer sale similar to walmart's with windows 7.. It's unknown what brand/price, but it should be cheap and has great specs... They sell out in seconds.

In my opinion, yes. Dell prevails over Acer, HP, Toshiba, even Sony.. I think vaios are horrible quality..

no i dont think that dell prevails over anything. i had one and in 2 weeks the thinkg was overloaded with viruses. it took about 10 minutes to load up and when it did it lagged when you moved the mouse and couldnt connect to the internet. and it had 4 gig of ram and a 500 gig hard drive and it got [snip] up that fast. dell used to mean quality. now it sucks ass. i have a 6 year old dell (that im using right now) and it loads and everything faster than the laptop did out the box. im not saying it loads fast but still. a 4 gig computer cant beet a 256 meg computer? there is something wrong there.

Seriously!?!?!?

You're telling me that the difference between a Core 2 Duo and a SINGLE CORE Celeron isn't noticeable. And you can't say that the difference between a 1440x900 and a 1366x768 display isn't noticeable, let alone the differences between Windows and OS X!!!

I really hope you were being sarcastic.

OP keep your MacBook Pro...I don't know how old it is, but I am sure it will last longer than that HP!!!

I think what he's trying to say is that OP won't notice a difference, especially since s/he's considering selling his MBP to get this.
What confuses me is how anyone could consider getting rid of any MBP to replace it with that pile of turd. A Celeron 900 is just crap, especially compared to Core 2 Duo...
For OP's needs though, clearly this is better suited since s/he's considering it.

No offence, but that's definitely your fault that it was overloaded with viruses.
Dell doesn't put trojans or viruses on it computers, that a user issue.
What the hell were you doing with it to get it like that?!
I mean, no offence, but you've gotta be really lazy/bone idle/stupid to be able to get a computer overloaded with viruses, especially two weeks after getting it.
It's simple common sense that stops you getting viruses by not downloading and installing everything you see, and by having anti-virus + anti-spyware.
If you buy the right anti-virus with live system checking, it'll automatically scan downloads straight away and let you know if it's clean or virus-laden.

im sorry but i dont like to spend a few hundred dollars a year on anti virus [snip]. and the computer was slow out the box. it just got progressively slower so i assumed it was viruses. it probably wasnt considering that i didnt download anything except firefox.

Well to be fair, I'm a self-admitting Mac lover, but you can get free anti-virus software on Windows if it's for home use. I personally like Avast. But, I hate Windows. You are right that running Anti-virus software does slow down a PC though. It is taking up resources.

As other people have said, Windows 7 is very nice. But in no way does it compare to Time Machine, Expose, and all the other features OS X has.

I agree with melman101 Avast is a really good anti-virus software for Windows and it is free. Secondly, Windows 7 is really good for a Windows OS, but it still doesn't compare to the brute force power that Snow Leopard has with it's advanced core technologies.

HP is only good for one thing...

Had a buddy that didn't listen to me, bought one about a year ago. In 6 months it was crap, HP was worthless for help. He gave it to me, figuring i could use it for parts or something...............so it made the trip with me to the shooting range and we took some frustration out on the POS. :D

No doubt windows 7 is fine for those who want a decent, do it's job laptop like a Dell or whatever PC. However, I still stand firm that Windows is behind Leopard, yet alone SL. I'm not sure which PC you guys prefer, but I've had crap experiences with Sony and HP..

lol. once i get a new laptop im gonna take this old dell and do the same thing

i know one thing...

the reason i switched to mac in the first place was the failed 8400GS in my xps...dell refused to fix(even after stating it was a recalled item and it has a substantially higher failure rate), i still have the dell as a reminder how much i hate dell and will never buy anything from that company again.

i used windows 7 for a bit, its not a bad os....but still has the aggressive windows updating issues(windows gets caught in windows updating loops and updates take forever and most likely fail), it may be faster then vista but it still possesses alot of the issues that vista had.

i remember waiting 8 minutes for a windows update to install on 7 pro....only for it fail, all i wanted to do was check my email and it took over 15 mins and 3 reboots for windows to uninstall the driver that failed.

i put that bad boy in a virtual machine.....where all windows products belong.

once you go mac....you never go back
