iPhone X Should I skip AppleCare+ for my iPhone X? Am using the Apple leather case

Well actually yeah I can afford another one cash and not even notice it on my bills.

But is that how I should be making the decision to buy or not buy AppleCare?
 
If the OP had that much money and would not even "notice it on my bills", why this thread.

Why would you be asking about AC+ when money seems so abundant.

You been around here long enough to know all about Apple Care, it costs, etc.
 
If you’re that well off, no need to buy it.

If a few grands goes unnoticed on your bills, why create a thread over $199? Think for 10 seconds. Either do it or move on.

I'm so lost right now because what the heck does being well off have to do with buying AppleCare+ for the iPhone X?!?!

Does AppleCare+ only make sense for those who cannot afford a new iPhone X if they broke it? Or the repairs?

Shouldn't the decision should be based on how likely it is for the iPhone to get damaged? Like if the person is using a case, etc.

EDIT: So basically if someone CAN afford a new iPhone X without issue, then AppleCare+ can be avoided?

Not sure if asking anonymous users online about something that's fairly different and essentially personal (not in the sense of private) results in anything more worthwhile, based on the roundabout discussions here, for example.
 
Here's my question:

If a person can easily afford a new iPhone X if they broke theirs, without any issue, by paying cash and not even knowing it on their bill at the end of the month, should they be saying

A) AppleCare+ is only ~200 bucks. I'll get it

OR

B) I don't need AppleCare+ bc if mine breaks I can get another no issue

Either one will do it seems, the rest is purely a subjective personal choice essentially.
 
OP should evaluate how careful or how well said X will be taken care of since all you need is one incident, maybe one day decides to clean the device while taking it out of the letter case and it just slips out all of a sudden! $550 iPhone repair right there compared to $199 covers 2 incident either $29 screen replace or $99 for whatever else + extra year coverage. If I was OP, i probably invest in it so I can have an extra year to complain to Apple any software glitches, hardware defects or my buttery hands or refurbish the device if I want to resell it in the future. If money was not an issue, I still wouldn't want to pay full cost for a new iPhone either if iPhone refresh every year.
 
You can buy another phone outright for over $1000, or you can get a damaged phone replaced for whatever swap out price is- $600ish I think.
 
As others have said, AppleCare+ is an insurance policy, plain and simple. With any insurance policy, you are paying money up front to cover you from added expenses later on. The $199 upfront, saves you from paying more expensives repairs later on in the 2 years AppleCare is on the phone. Like I said in my earlier post, I would ALWAYS get AppleCare for an iPhone. You are handling it every day in your hands and pockets and accidents do happen. Someone can bump into you and you drop the phone and shatter the glass. There could be an issue where heat could have damaged it. Water damage is not covered under the regular warranty even though the device is rated IP67.
 
I think it’s a waste. It’s a phone, not a house. Don’t be clumsy and you won’t have any problems. If you have it in an Apple leather case, you’ll be fine.

then as a person in this situation, for my own situation, I’ll just pick B.

If anyone can give me a solid reason for A, given my situation, then I’m very open.

I think you should stop wasting everyone's time with this thread, and make a decision already.

If i lived near a Apple store i would as i need same day change over, so use my home insurance instead, have only needed it once and that was for my son, who has since moved to NZ and has AC+ on the new 8.
 
OP, this is a serious question: have you ever considered engaging in therapy to work out why you seem to have difficulty in making decisions, or why some situations that come up in life seem to be difficult for you?

I can’t decide on anything :/


But I’m thinking of going with choice B as talked about in my earlier post.

IMHO you need help from a real-time, in-person grownup -- preferably a trained therapist -- who can assist you in navigating the shoals of adulthood (something which seems to be difficult for you) and in making serious, important as well as not so serious and not-so-important adult decisions for yourself. Why are you asking this and other questions here on an online forum when no one knows you in person, and not to mention that at the very least this latest one is clearly a rather minor and simple decision overall which needs to be addressed and carried out by you and you alone? It looks to me as though right now in the overall scheme of things you actually need some help in progressing through the difficult process of growing up, developing some confidence in your own choices and figuring out what that all actually means for you and your future lifestyle......
