It runs great on my mothers iPad mini 2 which is the same as the mini 3 internally so why not.

I'd wait and see how people who have done that feel about it..
just because an upgrade is available doesn't mean it runs fast and good..there has been some horrible performance issues with older iOS devices upgraded to newer iOS versions in the past and in my opinion iPad Mini 2/3 are already suffering with iOS 9.

It's actually a fair bit smoother than 9.3.5 on the mini 2

Just my own opinion/preference, but I prefer to keep all of my devices up to date.

The school I teach at still has sets of iPad 2 (not mini 2) and I was surprised that even they're quite usable on iOS 9.3

I was hoping to get an answer to this very question... I'm contemplating updating my iPad Mini 3 to iOS 10. I just don't want the iOS to slow down the device. Currently on iOS 9.3.5.

I'm hoping to hear more feedback about the mini 2/3 running great on iOS 10.

Running it on iPad Mini 2. It's noticeably slower than on my iPad Mini 4, however still very usable.

Edit: a little more detail - the keyboard is noticably slower (e.g., tapping the address bar in Safari, I have to wait for the keyboard to show up and become usable before I can start entering an address, and even then it seems to lag for a few seconds)

I'm glad to read there has been success with it. I have purchased 5 mini 2s for my grandkids and was hoping I'd be able to update all of them. Maybe by next update I'll have been able to bump some of them to mini 4s

I have just tried the 10 GM on my Mini 2, but it seems to be slight slower than 9.3.5. Opening apps (especially with Concepts, Pdf Expert, Excel and Word, Safari) and typing with keyboard I notice some lags.
Now I'm restoring the 9.3.5 with DFU mode, and I think I'll see next year some user comments before switch to 10.

For those with an iPad Mini 3 on iOS10.. Any regrets since updating to iOS 10?

My iPad Mini 3 seems to run at least as smooth on 10, if not smoother than 9.

It's true. People who have only ever used iOS devices have no idea how good they have it in terms of device longevity.

They no longer support iPad 3 for iOS 10 update. Still shocked but I'd refuse to upgrade anyway due to lack of slide to unlock. That being missing makes it a no go.

The iPad 3 was always a bit of a... I don't know if I want to say, "misstep"? Most people say that it never had the power needed to support its Retina display. Hence, it was not just replaced by the iPad 4 in just 7 months, but outright discontinued at the same time! The iPad 2 wasn't officially discontinued until 2 years later!

By the way, why is the loss of slide to unlock a deal breaker?
