I have not seen many rumors regarding the new one.. is it worth it to wait it out?

At this point, I would wait the 4-5 weeks to see if there is an Apple event and if it includes the Apple Watch.

If? There will most certainly be an Apple event in mid-September.

Also, OP; it’s been heavily rumored that a Series 4 is expected to launch with a 15% larger display, increased battery life and additional health sensors. I imagine the Series 4 should look very much similar to what we see now, but just with the larger display.

What could the new health sensor be?

I really believe there will be an event in September, don't get me wrong. I just don't like to speak in absolutes. :)

I would like to see a redesign but first I’d like to see battery life improved. If either Apple could cut the charge time in half or double the battery life I’d be pretty happy.

New ones supposed to have EKG heart sensing capabilities. If so, I'll buy one.

Wouldn’t that have to pass a FDA inspection first?

Also, when I was talking to a cardiologist they said to me an EKG for most people who are health isn’t needed, only those with heart issues would benefit from it.

There hasn’t been really much specification as far as what the health sensors for the Series 4, only that it was predicted ‘added health sensors’. I’m not saying you’re incorrect, but it’s been very vague in the rumors regarding what type of sensors to inspect. Its Also been rumored that glucose monitoring might be a future consideration as well for the Apple Watch.

I think the new watches are expected to come with solid state buttons like on the iPhone 7&8. Larger displays too. I’m considering getting a new series 3. $309 for a GPS at Best Buy is a good deal, I can wait a year for the newer versions.

Technically, that was rumored for _future_ Apple Watch models, but not specific to the Series 4 that was predicted by having a larger display by 15%, additional health sensors and longer battery life.

Yes, Apple is already working with Federal Regulators. And yes, I need EKG's because I've had heart operations, so I'm included in the user category.

This is enough to make me wait a month before I make a decision. My wife has a Series 3 and I want one but she complains about the battery life.

I'd like to see the SpO2 sensors, since coming from a bout with pneumonia, I'm pretty conscious of my blood oxygen levels. I don't know if they could accurately determine the EKG datapoints without a chest strap, but who knows, in today's technology, if you drop your pencil and pick it up, you're 6 months behind!

Apple Watch already has a SpO2 sensor, it’s just deactivated

Why would the SpO2 sensor be deactivated?

Regulatory reasons. It’s not the kind of feature that should be advertised until its is confirmed (independently by a governing body) to have a certain level of accuracy. Also on Apple’s own conscience, they shouldn’t advertise it unless they are as close to 100% accurate as they can be with different skin types /colours etc.

That's one reason to deactivate it. I assume there are beta units out there with the SpO2 sensor activated?
