It was 5 bellow here last night, I had a coat hat gloves on and I am still alive.
Oh. Were you outside for four straight hours?

I was shoveling snow in 12 degree weather for a few hours.Oh. Were you outside for four straight hours?

I was at the Broncos/Ravens playoff game last January. The temp at kickoff was 13 with a windchill below 0. It was cold but enjoyable. We just dressed like we were going skiing. Lots of layers, hand warmers, blankets, etc.
I say play the game.
It's amazing to me that you can recognize the danger of lightening yet be so blasé about the danger of extreme cold.
smh
Sounds like a bunch of whining and furthering the "wussification of America."
It's cold. Boo hoo. Put on an extra jacket. People have been playing sports like football and hockey outside for over a century. Not to mention other outdoor winter sports like skiing, snowboarding, etc.
Lots of people live in places like Alaska, Northern Canada, Siberia, etc where cold like this is the norm and they get by just fine.
Football games in domes should be illegal. Crazy weather conditions provide some of the best and most memorable games.
This is a terrible comparison. Anyone can get struck by lighting and there's nothing you can put on to prevent it if you're in an open stadium.
Extreme cold could be dangerous if you were outside in shorts and a t-shirt, but as long as you're wearing enough layers, it's not a problem.
I have never once heard any season ticket holder ever complain about it being cold. Put on some extra layers or stay at home and watch the game on TV.
What's next? We going to cancel games in Miami in September because of "extreme heat" too? Baking in the sun in a 100+ degree stadium is more dangerous than sitting there properly dressed in the cold.
It was 10 degrees before the wind chill at the start of the Winter Classic the other day at Michigan Stadium and they had no problem getting 105,000 people to show up and sit through the whole game. Everybody survived.

Exposure is the key word there, just don't have any exposed skin and you are fine. There's a bit of difference between a windchill around 0 and one around -50. -50 is unsafe conditions for 4 hours of exposure.
Everyone has to take personal responsibility for their well being
So no more football in Green Bay, Chicago, Minnesota for the next 2 years. Cancel the Superbowl this year. And the NFL has to take responsibility for intentionally placing people's health and well-being in jeopardy by exposing them to these extreme conditions.
The players can only put on so many layers before it effects their movability .
It's a perfectly apt comparison. Extreme weather conditions are sufficient for postponing NFL games.

And if the game goes well Chicago wants to host one.Oddly, the league waived requirements for a minimum temperature of 50 degrees, or a roof on the stadium, which enabled New Jersey to host this year's SB.
Oh. Were you outside for four straight hours?

Do they have enough stuff to handle everyone? Hotels, venues for the extra crap the league puts on.Bob Kraft wants to host one at Gillette too.

Have you ever once heard a player complain about playing in the cold? I sure haven't. Besides, the players have heaters on the benches and are out there running around which helps keep them warm.
No, it's a bad comparison. Lightning is something that can't be prevented or predicted. Cold is something that can be easily mitigated by putting on a few extra layers of thermal clothing.
Games are postponed due to lightning because the players standing on the middle of the field in metal helmets are essentially lightning rods.
The NFL doesn't need to "take responsibility" for anything. People need to stop being babies and have some personal responsibility. If it's cold, put on extra clothes, or stay at home and watch on your couch.
Why do you think you can tell other people it's too cold for them to go watch a game? That's their choice.
We'll said and I agree with all your counter arguments. Also how long do we postpone the game for? 1 day 2 days 3 days? You can't do that at all as it would give an immediate advantage to the next opponent. The schedules are all set now to give each team the same exact time to recuperate and prepare. Postpone one game for a day or two and it throws the entire schedule off.Sounds like a bunch of whining and furthering the "wussification of America."
