Oh. Were you outside for four straight hours?

Four hours ? Ha ! you should try being a Packers fan and visit the parking lot 4 hours before the game. Then spend another four inside the stadium. Then another two in the parking lot. But then again they do have cars that can keep them warm.

I was at the Broncos/Ravens playoff game last January. The temp at kickoff was 13 with a windchill below 0. It was cold but enjoyable. We just dressed like we were going skiing. Lots of layers, hand warmers, blankets, etc.

I say play the game.

There's a bit of difference between a windchill around 0 and one around -50. -50 is unsafe conditions for 4 hours of exposure.

Sounds like a bunch of whining and furthering the "wussification of America."

It's cold. Boo hoo. Put on an extra jacket. People have been playing sports like football and hockey outside for over a century. Not to mention other outdoor winter sports like skiing, snowboarding, etc.

Lots of people live in places like Alaska, Northern Canada, Siberia, etc where cold like this is the norm and they get by just fine.

Football games in domes should be illegal. Crazy weather conditions provide some of the best and most memorable games.

It's amazing to me that you can recognize the danger of lightening yet be so blasé about the danger of extreme cold.

smh

This is a terrible comparison. Anyone can get struck by lighting and there's nothing you can put on to prevent it if you're in an open stadium.

Extreme cold could be dangerous if you were outside in shorts and a t-shirt, but as long as you're wearing enough layers, it's not a problem.

I have never once heard any season ticket holder ever complain about it being cold. Put on some extra layers or stay at home and watch the game on TV.

What's next? We going to cancel games in Miami in September because of "extreme heat" too? Baking in the sun in a 100+ degree stadium is more dangerous than sitting there properly dressed in the cold.

It was 10 degrees before the wind chill at the start of the Winter Classic the other day at Michigan Stadium and they had no problem getting 105,000 people to show up and sit through the whole game. Everybody survived.

The players can only put on so many layers before it effects their movability .

It's a perfectly apt comparison. Extreme weather conditions are sufficient for postponing NFL games.

Just as stated in the NFL Rule Book.

-50º wind chill is an extreme weather condition.

Or so I hear.

Exposure is the key word there, just don't have any exposed skin and you are fine.

Weather has always been a part of the game
Front offices construct their teams for their environment... domes, north, etc. to gain an advantage
Heat/cold/rain/snow/wind/even fog... you name it, they all have their effect

I don't think we are the fashion police for fans/workers... they have the opportunity to dress appropriately, or not attend (or get another job)

Yes, games are delayed/postponed due to lightning, because it is unpredictable and not in anyone's control
It can come up quickly and you cannot dress for it
Nobody is going to go to Green Bay and be surprised it is hella cold for this game

Everyone has to take personal responsibility for their well being

Everyone has to take personal responsibility for their well being

And the NFL has to take responsibility for intentionally placing people's health and well-being in jeopardy by exposing them to these extreme conditions.

I enjoy NFL games played in cold weather. Watching players try their best to perform against the elements adds another layer to watch on tv. If they want to set an extreme temperature limit, they probably should.

So no more football in Green Bay, Chicago, Minnesota for the next 2 years. Cancel the Superbowl this year.

Have you ever once heard a player complain about playing in the cold? I sure haven't. Besides, the players have heaters on the benches and are out there running around which helps keep them warm.

No, it's a bad comparison. Lightning is something that can't be prevented or predicted. Cold is something that can be easily mitigated by putting on a few extra layers of thermal clothing.

Games are postponed due to lightning because the players standing on the middle of the field in metal helmets are essentially lightning rods.

And the NFL has to take responsibility for intentionally placing people's health and well-being in jeopardy by exposing them to these extreme conditions.

The NFL doesn't need to "take responsibility" for anything. People need to stop being babies and have some personal responsibility. If it's cold, put on extra clothes, or stay at home and watch on your couch.

Why do you think you can tell other people it's too cold for them to go watch a game? That's their choice.

I haven't heard of any players, coaches, owners, etc. clamoring for a delay or change of venue

So far, all I have heard is someone on the interwebz who isn't even going to the game calling for it

People that think it is too cold shouldn't go
Those that want to go should (if they can afford it :))

Non issue as far as I am concerned
People can take care of themselves and make their own choices

Oddly, the league waived requirements for a minimum temperature of 50 degrees, or a roof on the stadium, which enabled New Jersey to host this year's SB.

And if the game goes well Chicago wants to host one.

Oh. Were you outside for four straight hours?

What's your damage son? I'm from Wisconsin. I've gone hunting in the northern woods with my dad for 8 hours at a time in sub-zero temps without a problem. You just dress for it and deal with it. Get over yourself. These guys can handle it.

Do they have enough stuff to handle everyone? Hotels, venues for the extra crap the league puts on.

Of course they do. They'll hold most of it in Boston just like the NFL is hosting most of it in NYC this year.

We'll said and I agree with all your counter arguments. Also how long do we postpone the game for? 1 day 2 days 3 days? You can't do that at all as it would give an immediate advantage to the next opponent. The schedules are all set now to give each team the same exact time to recuperate and prepare. Postpone one game for a day or two and it throws the entire schedule off.

You simply can't do that at this time of year. You people complaining about it have no idea what it feels like to sit in a stadium and root for your team that you follow religiously.

Between Boston and Providence, yeah.

Kraft's also planning a second part of the Patriot Place development across the highway from the current stadium & complex with more stores, hotels, etc. There's also been talk about a possible casino there.

It's not going to happen in the next couple of years, but I've heard he's trying to get it there 5 years down the road or so.

FTFY.
