Showing off my scratched sapphire screen..
Haven't been too adventurous with the watch and that bad ass scratch serves against the purpose of going for steel instead of a sport
image.jpg
Yeah... That would annoy me. Especially when the sapphire screen was touted (and priced) as basically impervious to those such things. Is it deep, or a surface scratch?

What's the "at the office " band?

It's an alligator watch band bought at www.dehorlogebandenspecialist.nl. They have actual pieces of skin lying around and every watch band looks different, so I would always advise seeing in real life what the bands look like. But they are all beautiful! They also deliver to brands like Christiaan van der Klaauw.

I bought it originally so I could change between a milanese mesh bracelet and a leather band on the IWC watch, but as I love the milanese too much I don't bother switching anymore and now use this leather one on the Apple Watch :)

I would never use an Apple Watch if I had an IWC watch. Period. And I am a fan of the Apple Watch.

I thought the exact same thing when the Apple Watch was presented :) But there are a lot of occasions where you wouldn't want to wear a watch like that. Normally I have it on a milanese bracelet:

It's a bit shiny as you can imagine and at some clients you wouldn't want to "show off" that much. Also in some countries during business travel you wouldn't want to walk the street with that around your wrist and in other situations, like going out and drinking too much, working out, going on the boat, etc, the risk would be too high to get it damaged.

So I figured... the Apple Watch was the best alternative solution for those situations (because a Panerai or Rolex or Audemars Piguet would give the same problem). And I have to say, I like it a lot more then I would ever expect. That's coming from a watch enthousiast who never thought he would wear one :D

A different look for different events :)

For regular usage

And sporting of course

I just wanted a second watch/gadget for situations when I wasn't comfortable wearing my expensive watch (going out for drinks, at some specific clients, a day on the boat, sporting obviously, etc).

Je moet je uienstaat invullen (sorry for the Dutch line). ;-)

My solution for swimming ver.1(code name: ugly face):
1. Buy a cheap rubber case with straps(important! I know it's waterproof, but I just don't want to expose even a tiny bit of my precious to water, to have a peace of mind)
2. Buy some clear stretch wraps. wrap the core watch up.(make sure the lens on the back only be covered only ONE layer, and also don't make the buttons side too tight,, won't be able to turn the crown)
3. Put the wrapped watch core to the rubber case. and put a rubber band on the open side of the case for preventing the core escaping the case(I did it once without the rubber band and maybe I didn't snap the core into case completely secure, I ended up with a empty case on my wrist after a lap of butterfly, and later it took me 5 minutes and maximum anxiety to find it under the pool, so lesson learned: 1. use rubber band if you got a not so secure case, 2. Apple watch doesn't float!!! )
IMG_0360 (1).jpg

extra tips: put the watch on the flat part of your wrist to get the accurate HR reading(for me best location is on the left of my wrist bone) and set the exercise app up(I use rower mode) and force touch select lock BEFORE you jump into the pool(water somehow like my shinny watch too. touch it a lot when I'm swimming)

Personal experience after using ver.1 10+ times:

Pros:
1. only a few drops left on the watch core for 1 hour all tensity lap swimming after I unwrap it(far below the apple watch's water capacity)
2. totally eliminate my strapless HR monitor(put 2 fingers on the metal part for 10 sec to get the reading) and any time tracking device

3. If you put it on the right spot and tight enough, the overall HR reading is pretty accurate(sometime HR can have a delay or disappear )
4. gain some the activity ring which we lonely swimmer deserve

Cons:
1. take 5 minutes to prepare each time use
2. hard to operate submerge(screen and crown)
3. not so pretty

TODO:
Switching to PVC heat shrink tube shape film to make preparation easier and looks prettier

By 'clear stretch wrap' I assume you mean cling film?

I'm speechless

I love how understated the Space Black SS version is; I know some people seem to prefer the "pop" of the regular SS, and that's exactly what I don't like about it. I own a few attention-grabbing timepieces - this is just my all-purpose, all-about-me favorite at the moment. It does what it's supposed to do rather well.

I'd like to point out the 74% battery life, which is after putting it on at 0630 this morning; pic was taken after 1900 (I'm stationed in Germany), and included an hour of PT tracking.

I charge it nightly, but that's only because the stand I have for it holds the charging cable as well. I could easily get two days or more off of a single charge. Not too shabby, considering what it is and can do.

Instantly ordered the red loop for my 38mm SG. Looks really good. What does it feel like and which deliverer did you choose? I took DHL worldwide, I think they are quite reliable. How long did it take until you received the band?

I also took DHL and waited ca 3 weeks. It feels almost exactly like Apple original leather iPhone case. Nice and smooth :) It's much more comfortable to wear than sport band. I'm glad it's sweat resistant because I'm planning to wear it to the gym :)

Had my 42mm sport just over a week and have to say that I absolutely love it... I had 3 android wear devices before this and have to say the apple watch trumps them all :)

Don't trust my ability to not smack it into some form of watch destructing surface hence the tough armor case :) Also love the Milanese strap much to the dislike of many others

What case is that on your watch?

By 'clear stretch wrap' I assume you mean cling film?
Yes! The film that only cling to itself which the normal stretch wrap does, and also by "clear" I mean the type of the film is as transparent as possible(otherwise the HR reading may not be as accurate as it should).
