can we get a top-down?
A couple of rough and ready shots.

I'm sure it would look better if I had any photography skill whatsoever ;)

Looking at it here on my wrist I like it. In the photos, I don't.

Thoughts on Space Black watch with standard Link Bracelet? I think it photographs poorly but looks quite nice in real life.

I plan on getting a Space Black Link Bracelet eventually, but at £449 in the UK ($650!) it won't be for a while!

How do you have a Space Black watch but not have a Space Black Link Bracelet? Surely you can only buy them together?

As @IphoneIssues said, in September they added a new SKU. PC World had a £100 off deal, couldn't resist!

Strangely, while Apple charges a £90 premium for the Space Black SS with Space Black Link compared with the standard SS with Link, there is no price difference between a Space Black SS with Sport Band and a standard SS with Sport Band.

WHY WAS I NOT TOLD THIS!!!

I think the Space Black looks amazing. (Though I love my SS with Link, too!)

It's not exactly a secret. Macrumors covered the september and everything.

You should email Tim though. Eddy should certainly have taken the time to contact you personally to update you on the product range and new SKUs. Taylor swift can't have been keeping him THAT busy.

Jesus, what an obnoxious reply.

@profmatt September saw:
  • lots of new Sport Band colours,
  • Gold and Rose Gold variants of the Sport watch,
  • a new design for the Classic Buckle and the addition of a brown version,
  • the Space Black with Sport Band combo,
  • the removal of lots of SKUs from the lineup to make way for new SKUs with new colour bands,
  • the Hermes range,
  • a standalone Space Black Link Bracelet,
  • Link Bracelet Kits for larger wrists (SS in August, SBSS in November),
  • a replacement of the Bright Blue Leather Loop with a Midnight Blue one, and a very minor design tweak on the Leather Loop.
So lots and lots of changes, some very subtle!

Yeah, at first, I wasn't sure about the Space Black. Wondered if I should return it for the regular SS. I just couldn't. People complain about a lot of bands having silver buckles and adapters, I realize I'd much rather wear that and have that shiny black cube to look at instead of having a matching silver bezel.

Plus there will almost certainly be a Space Black Milanese Loop next month and that will look NICE! :D

View attachment 617370 View attachment 617371 View attachment 617372 Here's a Product Red version of the Apple Watch steel. Bought as the complete watch, not just the strap itself. I have several other straps including the Milaneese and link, but this one has a certain something about it. A silky smooth unapologetic and strikingly red hue. I love it and I love what it stands for.

Maybe it's the camera exposure or lighting but your Product Red band looks more true red than mine. Hmmm.

On the other hand, being "shouty" opens oneself up to late night ridicule.

To use the analogy of chocolate biscuits, this was like asking "is there such a thing as a biscuit covered in chocolate?" rather than more specialist knowledge like, "when was the first chocolate biscuit marketed?" - the latter might take research whereas the former is easily googled. It's right there, on the terrifically hard to find Apple Watch page of the apple website...

It looks very similar to mine. Could it be your screen? :/

After a lot of thinking about it I have bit the bullet and get myself a black sports watch with a black band.

Due to my large wrists and Apple UK stores not stocking the larger bands I had to order the larger sports strap first and then tried it on with a demo watch in store, was very surprised how big the larger strap is.
But what is strange is the pin on the strap that comes with the watch is black, but it's sliver on the one that comes with the larger strap.

I thought they made the black strap with the option of either a silver or a black pin in the back? I saw two options in the Apple online store... Maybe it is different here in the US?

They do, but @H1JJY had to get the XL strap, which is only available in white and black, both with silver pin. :)

did they exchange/refund the band cost when you bought it, or is that a US only thing?

Nope, must be a US only thing. I guess it would be the same if you had to order more links for the link brand.
I now have the S/M band 2 M/L bands and the L/XL band. So have 3 bands that I don't need or have use for.
Also a sliver and black pin bands.

did you ask about it? perhaps it's the timing of the ordering; usually from what i've seen it goes like this:

X buys watch; X takes watch to genius; genius processes "band exchange" on X's new watch and order's L/XL band though warranty system; X receives larger band with no added cost but does not have the smaller band that came with the watch.

i wonder if they can't do anything now? (except if you're still in the 14 days you could still return the larger band and wait, depending on how much the cost is worth it to you)

When I started to look into getting one and had trying on session with a member of staff from Apple and we quickly worked out that the normal size bands would not fit, she even suggested to order the larger band to a store and then could test to see if it would fit (if not would then be easy to send the band back)

I had it ordered to a different site and when picking up the band trying one and then buying the Apple Watch.
Which I did in one visit and did explain what I had done.

At no point did in ether visit did any Apple employees suggest that this could be done.

I was a little miffed that I had to pay extra for the band and did suggest on the 1st visit but was advised that it was the how it was, but would feed back about it.

TBF it was only £39 so no biggie and will make it easier to sell (if I do) with 'normal' size bands.

And have with other watch brands had to order and pay for larger bands or extra links. Many don't even offer that. in the UK retailers don't deal well with us of a larger size.

Odd. How many days have gone by since the L/XL band arrived?

I'd shoot an email off to customer services ; it seems our UK store staff are generally quite clueless about some of their policies - i saw a fellow forum member who asked about price matching the John Lewis discounts and was told it wasn't done, sent an email and had 10% (the maximum price match Apple will do) refunded instantly and a free sports band sent as an apology.

Ordered the band on 12/2 but it didn't arrive until 17/2 and I picked it up and bought the watch on 19/2.
I will get a email sent off today
