You’ll never get tolerances within 1mm with woven fabric. It’s poor design more than anything and Apple need an up-rev of the lugs, maybe a different material just to maintain that width.
It's not the woven fabric that's the problem, it's the lug design: the lugs are too short and the Braided Solo Loop needs a wider lug so that it has a smooth transition to the Watch.

The fact that the metal lug is clearly spec’d not to fill the width of the watch case has to mean something. The yarn will out!

I'll believe it when I see it. In the meantime, in the spirit of science and (your) faith, why not throw yours in the laundry relentlessly to prove your theory 😉
