I can't speak for the Rose Gold, but the S0 launched in May '15. In September '16 the big news was S2 with GPS and water resist (I think).

Less well publicised was that the original was quietly replaced by a new model that was logically the S1, with basically the same specs but faster. That became known as the S1 (I don't recall if that was an official Apple naming, but I think it was) and the pre- Sep '16 models the S0.
Thanks for that!! OK, so I'm sure I had the s0 (with the Hulk Green band) and then an s2, but never an s1. Then an s3, s4, s5, and now s6. :D

S5 White Ceramic on Seafoam. Outside in the shade. It looks more blue here than it really is. It’s probably my most favorite band right now.

I’ll never stop loving seafoam. It’s so bright and glowy in person.

I am swooning!

Seafoam is awesome

Thank god I‘m immune to peer pressure.

I did order Seafoam from Amazon an hour ago, but it was my own free will.

Awesome detail. I'm not trying to be cheeky, but I think the above 2 posts mean I'm right in saying the S1 was an S0 with a faster chip - basically. The S1 was entirely a weird product
I guess that’s correct. I just find it funny that they went through the trouble of fabricating a new SOC with the same lithography as the outgoing chip with dual cores *and* a new GPU instead of just using an underclocked S2, which is what everyone at the time assumed.

I’m glad they ditched the single core processor really fast. I held onto my S0 for as long as possible but my god it should have been dual core to begin with. It was just as gimped as the iPhone 6.

I hear that! I kept my S0 unit the S3 came out - and in fact used it a sleep tracked until late 2019 when the screen popped off due (I assume) to a swollen battery.

Funny thing is that I have an S3 gray ceramic that I wear occasionally, but keep turned off as it's very occasional. It's unbelievably slow compared to the three S5s I have, and the thing that tipped me over to get an S3 was that it was sooooo much faster than my S0!

I find the interface on my gray to be fine, especially with the new animation speed, but it’s the connection/handshake speed that kills me.

If I’m trying to throw it on anew and go for a walk, activity rings, airpods, even cellular sometimes can cause airline-style delays and much dog whining. Luckily its battery is infinite so I just wear it for my siesta and let it slowly sync.

Of course the 30fps is a whole other perception issue.

You're right, the interface is OK speed wise, but everything else is way slower than S5 speed (I haven't seen an S6 in action).

I actually think I'm somewhat immune to screen rates. I can see the difference between my iPad Pro and my iPhone, but only if I think to look - it doesn't leap out at me that the iPhone has horribly jittery scroll at 60Hz like I understand some (most?) people get.

Yeah well the iPhone got worse with OLED, right?

The S6 is a screamer. It loads Podcasts and Radio’s landing page scary fast, as a tangible benchmark.

Oh I know! I took the same upgrade path except I bought my S5 used for a good price after the S6 came out lol. S3 to S5 was as big of a jump as S0 to S3. And most of that came in the S4 because the S5 has the same processor.

Wish apple still sold black Milanese loop. But S5 Black looks fine with graphite I guess.
