My grandmother has a Series 4 and it was doing this while on the charger. It kept showing the charging animation again and again. It’s almost like it’s connecting/disconnecting over and over again. It only does it intermittently but my S5 doesn’t, and my S3 didn’t either. Makes me wonder if it’s something with the S4?

Oh. Maybe. It does seem to show the charge animation, as if it is dropping and reacquiring the charger standd. It's the Apple fold up AW standd, nothing third party, and a Apple cable, and Apple charger. All Apple. For a while, I wondered if the thing was slipping off the center of the magnet, and it seems to be solidly 'stuck' there. Is it the battery dying in the watch? It sure is annoying when it happens over and over again. I think this is the longest I've kept an AW, because I love this 4. Except the charging drama. *sigh*

She’s using a third party stand that just holds the official cable in place. I was using the same one with my S5 until I found a screaming deal on the OEM stand. When we sold her S3 I swapped her cable with the one from my S5, at that time brand new. I think it’s still having the problem albeit intermittently.

Some app that makes it so you have to always open another app and completely removes proper AOD functionality. I don’t recommend it.

Clockology is an app that actually makes Apple Watch interesting.

Well worth giving it a try since all the built-in Apple faces are rather boring - the Apple Hermès ones are better (slightly), but Hermès is a fashion company, not really a watch maker.

AOD is nothing special, so you are not missing anything.
