After stumbling upon a (relatively) cheap S6 SB Hermès, my little collection is very much complete. Silver Stainless is S7, gold Stainless and natural Ti both S5. Now come on, Apple, S8 Ceramic needs to happen …

Great collection. If only the Apple Watch was a forever watch that could be used for years upon years. Sadly they end up being just disposable pieces of tech.

Well, most „forever watches“ just sit in a drawer somewhere and aren‘t used very much at all, I guess. To me personally it is at this point completely unfathomable to regularly wear a watch without all the incredible features of the Apple Watch, so to have a little diversity, looks-wise, I started collecting those and I’ll just use them as long as they‘ll last. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I plan to start collecting the watches too, and if anything I think the "disposability" of an Apple watch just helps me find the ones I want for cheaper. Just picked up a brand new, untouched, unactivated Series 0 stainless plus milanese for $75.

I’m not downing your collection. If that is your thing then by all means collect them. I just said it never made much sense to ME.

It’s still paired but the lifespan of the S3 was effectively 4 years. I feel like the S4 will get a little more than that, (especially in my specific case where my SSS S4 Hermes is the newest/last watch I have that will let some pesky S5 bands click in).

And AOD should keep the S5 feeling good for even longer. The question is will there be a quality of life/feature that the S6 SiP can do but not the S4/5…

In general I do think the lifespan of the Watches will get longer as the device itself is now pretty mature and the steps from gen to gen become smaller. The design is almost at its platonic ideal now as the case can‘t get much bigger (to still look good on most wrists) and the screen has almost no bezel anymore; I still wish the Watch would get (much) thinner, but that is probably a long way off until all the tech/sensors that is/are supposed to be integrated eventually have become a reality.

I luvvvvv how round the S7 is! And the potential squared off SE2 will be iconic in its own way. And I’m excited to see the Punisher rugged edition. Will be interesting if they rope Nike into that one, as they’re not afraid to dupe the Nike brand with the SE.

Wait - you actually think that Nike was deceived into having their logo on the SE, and no only that, but Nike did nothing to prevent Apple from continuing to use the SE / Nike association (Nike could have sent a C&D, they probably have legal counsel), and then further still Nike then allowed the Apple / Nike connection to continue for the S7?

That’s quite a story - got any sources?

Lol duplicate. I imagine the Nike board worships the low-end trainers Tim walks on, fwiw.

Less about the Nike brand and more about just adding SKUs. But then again the watch ushered in the era of infinite configs across the products, eh?

I see reading it back the use of “rope” totally sets you up for dupe-qua-dupe. And as I’ve said a million times on here, so many people came over with Jay Blahnik after the Fuelband went bye-bye, I’m sure it’s all peace and love.

Dupe usually means deceive. It can be used as an abbreviation for duplicate but that‘s not as common 😀

Right there with you wrt to the super refined shape of the S7!

Next gen will be very interesting for sure as we have literally no idea (from any rumours) what the "tentpole" new feature is going to be. FWIW I'm more with Gruber in believing that the Explorer will be the one with the flat edges, not the SE, but then again what will the new SE be like? So many open questions and the "rumour mill" still treats the Watch like the flop it never was …
