I’m an AW newby but I was pining for a purple band since I began considering the purchase. So I bought a starlight watch with a starlight sport band at Costco for $349 several weeks ago and decided, to my surprise, that I really like the sport band. I was waiting for the new colors to come out to see if there was a new improved purple. I was really surprised that the old colors were removed from the Apple Store when the new colors were added. Not only is there no new purple but the price of the basic sport band has gone up $20. Amazon saved the day. They have the English lavender in stock at the old price of $49. Ordered it yesterday and received it today.View attachment 1970616
Nice! I just got that color myself yesterday in the solo loop. But what do you mean the price has gone up $20? Sport bands on Apple’s site are still $49, same as they have always been.

Still the same price here in Aus, $69 🤔

Chances of the new  watch bands being available at  stores today?

Agree, does anyone if this is Nike’s doing or Apple?
I would have loved that yellow as a Nike band 🥲🥲
Hard to imagine it’s not 100% apple controlled, just licensing and verifying Nike colors and Futura typeface energy. You would think Nike would want as big a band footprint as possible given they drop 10-20 new products every few days.

How much proprietary color and watch sales data is Cupertino even comfortable sharing with Nike rank and file?

My best guess is that the Nike watch itself sells most of the bands and most watches get sold during the fall collection period.

So the newly skinny wider spring lineups of 2021 and 2022 are even moreso with our beloved holey bands?

EDIT: I had inadvertently followed a link on Reddit to the Australian Apple store thus my confusion about the prices.

I love my English Lavender sport band very much. I think it will still be fine in the spring/ summer time. This is why I'm not going for the new Blue Fog. I feel they are very similar and I try not to develop a sport band addiction. :D

Good points… I haven’t really looked at the actual Nike watch for a few years as I’ve been going SS and Ti, but the 7 is only available in starlight and midnight Only, missing the green and blue and wasn’t there a red alu one?
So, colors are for non-Nike?

My only data points are

1) you only see people in public with default Nike bands (or non-Nike OEM default) if they have OEM at all

2) Nike had the chlorine/green on deep discount, after it appeared as the first truly wacky/vibrant Nike choice that us enthusiasts went wild for (I have it on now), so perhaps the drab ones sell well

I’m also starting to buy into the thought that proper orange and red are off limits because of Hermes and the charity band line respectively. So not many more places to go for Nike sport bands.

I predicted the usual blue and green, one or both drab…but I guess those stopped selling or those colors were better served by the regular line?
