I’ve been almost exclusively wearing the Ultra ~18-hours per day for the past 2 months. Put one of my S7’s on tonight and it feels like a mix of jewelry and toy… a very beautiful and highly functional piece of tech. I love being able to switch up as I don’t care for the Ultra in more formal settings, but they for me aren’t often.

Yeah, it's odd huh. I went back to my Series 4 Stainless Steel from my Ultra this weekend just to switch it up and what a different feeling and look now. It's dinky. 😆

Returning Succulent solo loop, tomorrow.

Doesn't look as nice to me in the flesh.

Picking up Sunglow. Does anyone have any photos of this one to show? It will be on a SS case.

Thanks.

I absolutely love the ultra… but with my tiny wrists this is never an
Option for me. That and the high price.

i ordered from pitaka which i think is the only place you can get it from currently.
Shady, how has that Pitaka Air Case been holding up?
Did it scratch the sides of the Ultra after removing it?
Any problems of it popping off the watch on its own during normal use?

I just ordered one as it's now available on Amazon.

I need to see it in person but huge sounds like an overstatement

„Huge“, lol. You make it sound like an S3.

My theory is that on the S7/8 part of the bezel is „hidden“ behind the curve of the Watch body. Ultra doesn‘t have this opportunity because of the protective titanium lip.

And risk the G1 to be a flop?

It is.

I will say this: if you use „full bleed“ watch faces most of the time, I can see someone prefering the S7/8. Other than that, the Ultra screen is just next level.
Oh I'm for sure overstating it. The Ultra looks to have thinner bezels than even the Series 5/6, but there's still no denying it's a chonky boi.

when I say "bad" i don't really mean bad, hence the quotes. I just mean that I believe they didn't push the display technology to the limits *yet* in hopes to play that card later. They've probably got a solid list of ideas to improve the Ultra already.

has not popped off at all don't see how it could with how tight it is on the watch and i have removed it twice so far and zero scratches so it has held up great so far

So I’ve finally got an OG link bracelet!

Space black is not a perfect match with my Graphite AW7 but still looks great I thinkView attachment 2128601View attachment 2128603
if you have experience in watchmaking or tinkering with really small things, you could potentially buy two of these and build your own Graphite Link Bracelet.

If you do it right, assuming it's even possible, the only SBSS part will be the two buttons on the bottom.

wow
just wow!

is yours made of the same prototype parts?

and is there any info on when the prototypes were manufactured (and why it never came to the market)?

Mine's a half of a graphite link bracelet (same seller and listing) that I just stuck to the end of a Space Black link for the photo. It's not a full graphite link, only 1/3rd.

These graphites also don't come with the buttons or lugs, so when you slide it into the watch, it won't click into place. You'd have to transfer those from another band somehow. I'm waiting for @Vangeli to explore the art of deconstructing band lugs and reverse engineering how to remove and reassemble them. I'd imagine they're universal across all bands, so to find replacements you probably wouldn't have to buy another link bracelet.

As far as when they were made, I'll guess looong before graphite existed as a watch color. Like, i'm thinking 2014 even, more likely 2015 or 2016 though. I have this conspiracy theory that the graphite finish in its entirety is just the DLC Space Black finishing process with a step or two removed. I think Graphite is what you get when you stop a DLC coating half way then finish it instead of going through the full process. That'd also be why they never came to market, because back then, Graphite was nothing more than an unfinished Space Black, so it was just defect parts and tossed aside to be destroyed. There's no chance of it coming back though, the Link Bracelet never really sold, it's actually discontinued now.

Graphite is a different process than Space Black so there’s a chance that’s how they tested the color at first but afaik that’s not how they do Graphite now.

Is this why they don’t have LB with 40/41/44/45 mm markings even though the bands are in stock?

That’s sad in any case (although the bands are pretty much everlasting)

P.S. Thanks for the reply! That was an amazing read :)

Yeah, they got discontinued right around the release of the Series 4. I think I remember hearing about a very very small number of 44mm marked link bracelets? but i could be making that up. All the links Apple sells now are just 42mm bands that were repackaged into the 44mm and 45mm box design.
