I'm not sure what to think of the, in my opinion, disastrous UI change. I really don't like the white background with the HUGE bold font. I much preferred the background reflecting the primary color of the associated album art and the thin font used in iOS 9.3.2. I certainly hope that Apple reverses that horrible decision in future betas and the final release of iOS 10.

That being said, I was also unable to determine how to show only music on my device. My wife and nieces all sync their devices to my iTunes library, so I have content that I don't want to see on my iPhone 6 Plus. In iOS 9.3.2, I was able to show only music I specifically synced to my iPhone, and not everything purchased in iTunes. With iOS 10, I noticed a Purchased playlist, showing everything we've purchased on iTunes and non-resident on my iPhone, and when sorting the iPhone's Library by Composer, it gets really confusing. Does anyone know of a way to show only the music resident on a device, vice the resident and non-resident music file? Any and all responses will be greatly appreciated.

May I guess that "download" is just for you to show music stored only on device, not some available in iTunes Store but not being downloaded?

That's exactly what it's supposed to be according to the banner text near the top. Tap on Artist or Album, etc. and it shows you what's on the device.

No offence, but how can/did you miss the obvious "Downloads" option. Did you even attempt to press anything? Or even open the app?

That seems really annoying. Just give me an option to hide songs that aren't downloaded. Easy as that.

An option that doesn't require an extra tap to move deeper into the menu?

    Typical I want X.

    Company gives you X.

And then it's not good enough because you would have done X another way.

Lagwagon, it seems like in your eyes everything at Apple is perfect! Always someone explains their problem you will say that you didn't notice.

Not everything is perfect. The difference is I don't go around complaining and demanding that the software is to be tairlored to my exact and every need.

I adapt to what is given and move on. It's their software at the end of the day and they can make it look and function the way they want it to. Raising concerns through proper feedback channels is a lot different than ranting on a forum that doesn't even belong to the company.

Seek for third party apps such as Marvis. Oh, this app DOES provide you option to show ONLY local music, not iCloud music.
Try it out, rather than waiting for Apple to implement this feature.
And Marvis fully supports Apple Music.

Thanks for all the replies. I did know about the Downloads menu, but I neglected to add additional information to my question. I was actually wanting the same behavior as in iOS 9.3.2. I don't have CarPlay in my vehicle, but the infotainment system allows me to search by Composer, Genre, etc... The primary issue is that when I search by Composer, I get the composers for all media, including that not on my iPhone, unlike the behavior in iOS 9.3.2. I mean, if it's not on our devices, why does Apple insist, in this iOS, on forcing the issue?

See my replay, with respect to the Downloads menu option.

I understand your point, but one thing I always appreciated about Apple is their attention to even the smallest detail, especially with respect to aesthetics. The stark contrast between the Music app now and the Music app in iOS 9.3.2 is a bit much to take. Apple has really taken quite a few steps back. I certainly hope that they will return to the much better UI, but as you said, it's their software and they can do what they want. What flowed together really well and looked very nice, now looks like something thrown out by design teams in the 1990s.

How do you know whether I've used the Feedback app or not? I "rant" here because I can, and because others may feel the same as me.

The new setup for playing only downloaded music does not work for my purposes, and I think this is similar to others concerns. I don't really care about Siri, that function is pretty weak anyway, but it is especially useless if I ask for music and it gives me God knows what old crap from my iTunes purchase history. But if I plug my phone into my bedside dock player, and hit play, it draws music from all the songs in my iTunes. Having to log out of iTunes to achieve my end seems a long way to go.

For those of us who might actually be trying to solve the problem, instead of trying to feel clever by insulting everyone, the only way I found to play downloaded music with Siri is to ask for the particular artist or album, or to make a playlist and then ask for that.

I agree with you. No need to insult people. The truth is I have the same problem as you. I can go to the downloaded section and listen that way. But when in carplay there is no downloaded option. Carplay shows me all my itunes purchases. Siri will play all my itunes purchases when asked. I ONLY want to play what is on my phone! I don't want to stream anything! The only solution for me is to turn off cellular in the music settings on my phone. Apple needs to give us the "only downloaded" switch like we had on IOS 9. This is my only complaint with IOS 10.

There are no issues with IOS 10. This is probably the first major release over 9, 8 and 7 that didn't have bluetooth issues or other serious issues. However, this music app issue is not a bug. It is an oversight on Apples part. They are trying to push everyone to the cloud but I don't want to do it. I just want to listen to downloaded music. I don't want to stream anything. They need a switch like they had in IOS 9 that forces Siri and Carplay to only see downloaded music.

There are certainly issues, just depends on who might be impacted by them (depending on their use of their device) and to what degree.
