Uh, I think that would be a capital She/He. FWIW - his/her hair looks fabulous....on him/her. Can't say the same for, ahem....other members of the Whig Party. That was worth the $25 swat :D

If I had my way, I would not even allow sigs, but if they must, it must be on one line and must be at the smallest font possible.

Pixel fonts anyone?

Consider yourself lucky, 11egate.

any reason why you are against sigs?

Tell that to the first thousand posters on any thread about a new Apple product! :p  :D And, erm, the last thousand posters on any thread speculating a new Apple product! ;)

I used to, but I just don't bother anymore - we all know it's pointless. ;)

Semirelated question, why do people feel the need to post specs in sigs? Does anyone else care how big your iPod is? I mean, it's handy once in a while for tech-support threads, but most people disregard the signature and ask for the specs anyway. it's just so much text we have to scroll through.

I agree - I always put something more meaningful (or at least what I consider to be at least...) in my Sig. Never saw the need to quote system specs, but hey, to each his own!

Oh, that was bad. :p

I like the smaller font size sigs, I think it looks cleaner and doesn't take away from the actual post.

For some people the most intelligent part of their post is their signature, which includes nothing more than a bunch of specs.

So I can see why they'd get mad when they are forced to take some of the focus off their signature and actually let us see their post more clearly.

That's pretty harsh, don't you think?

Maybe it's just my interests, but I don't run into those people here on the forums. Actually... I seem to end up in threads with the same ~30 people.
Hi Guys/Gals! :)

I don't know, I never tickled my fancy to see sigs with computer stats in them. But then again, I never really cared about the possessions of others.
If people want to show off their stuff, whatever, but I really don't care.
If that's the most intelligent thing they can put in a sig then that's pretty revealing.

My sig was changed, which resulted in a PM to Doctor Q (only mod I knew of at the time :)) and learning of the limits.

I actually don't really care about sigs that are small-- I just skip over them. But flashy ones or sigs with political intentions get on my nerves.

:( Sorry (also the the posters who agreed after rainman) but I feel like I'm in a tight squeeze; a few months ago was a really long thread about sigs (which got closed) and everybody said the opposite then, how they wished people would list simple specs so that when replying s/he could tell if his/her own setup was relevant or whatnot.

So I put mine in my sig...

Don't worry about it. I read that other thread you're referring to. It's just that most people do not list their specs when having a problem that's all. And after all you're not putting everything in there down to your Aiport Base Station... ;)

Whew, thanks, thought I'd be left all alone in the cold w/ these posts. Yes, that extra bit, and extra bit, and extra bit gets a bit over the top sometimes. I thought long and hard about how to keep my sig at a minimum... I figure the way I've got mine listed, people know which revisions, and if they know enough about my revision, then they would know that I have added an extra stick of RAM to my PB, etc.

I just hate those extensive "look at what I got" sigs that list all the details. As I said, I don't feel sigs with computer specs to be that imaginative but I don't care, if people wanna do it that's fine with me. And you did it for a purpose, though I still think sigs with over 2 lines should be prohibited but that's just me. :)
