woo, nTB owner of silver, after SG 12" rMB for two years,

like it A LOT more, its classic, tried and true, and will take a whaling better

no ragrets

is this thread needed? of course not,

but considering SG is dominating I would imagine for the novelty, I think couldn't hurt to have an underdog discussion

I also have no beef with SG, in the right lighting it looks sleek as hell, but its a variable thing,

Silver always shines, independent of lighting,

That's certainly an inventive use for a laptop! And I guess a testament to the build quality of the machine as well.

I did consider getting the silver one, but ultimately they didn't have those at the store at the time of purchase, so I went with SG.

Had both the Silver and SG 15", and ultimately kept the SG.. Love the stealthy look, even though I covered it up with a carbon fiber decal. I may eventually switch with to a clear decal in the future.

Can't go wrong with either color, really!

You know the thing that put me off SG... I was on the underground and saw someone on a 13" SG MBP, so took a closer look... It wasn't a MBP, it was an Acer! lol

I specifically went for silver because of that ‘you have a new computer’ SG attention one gets in a 250+ work environment of macbook pro adepts. Anonymity for the win.

I like anonymity, too

with 12" they were relatively ubiquitous, so I didn't feel as weird with SG

with 13/15, they're still fresh out the gate and a talking piece (especially if you had a glowy touchbar)

I dont want to discuss products at a cafe, they aren't my props for having smooth chat haha

I have to admit when I put my order in next week, I'm 99% certain it's going to be silver. I've no real objection to the SG, it's a nice looking system and I am tempted by it just for a change but there's just some weird little voice whispering in the back of my head that it's supposed to be silver. Go figure :p

I went with silver (in the end).

Both look good, though I think the SG suits the 15" more, making the space around the keyboard less noticeable.

On smaller form factors I think the silver looks great. A friend of mine recently got a silver 12" rMB and in person I think it looks better than my gold and rose gold ones ever did!

If only it was possible to get iOS devices in silver with a black screen, then I could just get silver everything and be done with it and not have the deliberation at every new release! :)

I went with silver as well. I personally like space grey but think the classic aluminum look is timeless, and from experience is easier to keep looking clean. Also, it really does age a bit better. SG as you imagine has a tendency to show wear.

While I think silver is a great color, I don't understand the "classic" look agrument and even less the "timless" one.

I think the SG Macs are just as 'classic' because of their design (just like a white iPhone is still a 'classic' iPhone) - it's the details, not the color. We had Macs of all colors, from colorful iMacs to black MacBooks - and we had SG Apple devices for a long time. Space Gray is a classic look alright.

And it certainly looks just as timeless.

As for "it looks like any other PC" argument - there are more silver PCs today than those that have a darker shade. I don't think any PC looks anything close to a Space Gray Mac - or a silver one. Both are stunning.

As I said - silver is a great color. But saying random things like "classic look" makes it feel like you're justifying your choice. No, it's not objectively "more Mac" or anything. But it is a great choice, and silver MBPs are really good looking. Just as SG ones.

I like peoples opinions and weighing in SG

but this a SILVER OWNERS thread. Not to say you can't chime in if you don't own. Or there can't be civil discourse. But there are SG v Silver threads and lengthy too I don't want this to turn out to be the same

Danke

If you're reading as a SG-Owner again SG isn't bad and even nice you can't go wrong is my sentiment but now let's talk SILVER a color and a currency, whereas space grey makes no sense because it should be space black

If there was a space black, matte, not just a dark color -- sold. Like the material of a Moto pebl Or even same material as the regular just completely blacked out and scratch proof relatively

The silver Mirror Apple logo against the frosty white silver chassis in the right lighting is :O

Silver throwing back to 2000/2001 with the titanium PowerBook. In terms of "timeless" it's one of the reasons old PowerBooks are sometimes mistaken for newer computers. That's why I said that, my dude.

Hard to argue that after 16 years the general design/look isn't "classic".

Have to disagree, that Acer from the side looked pretty much identical from a slight distance.

You don't have to agree, it's fact. There are PCs that look like both silver and SG MacBooks, mostly due to the fact that PC manufacturers are imitating Apple design.

It was just a stroke of luck that you saw a dark silver Acer and not a silver PC. I saw a bunch of PCs that look like a silver MBP. In fact, I think there are more of those than "SG" ones.

From a far, a LOT of PCs look like MacBook Pros, silver or space gray. From up close - nothing comes close to a MacBook, Silver or Space Gray.

I can spot a silver MBP a mile off, but the SG MBP, not quite so obvious. Probably due to the keys not being so contrasting against the body, the grey hides a bit of the obvious quality from a distance. That's just me though, so I don't expect a huge argument coming back on this, ok.

Ok, I don't want to get into a big argument over this :) The important thing is that Silver MBPs look amazing, and that you'll enjoy yours.

I wish I had both colors ;)

With more babies on the way I figured it would match my hair colour in a couple of years.

I also prefer the contrast between body and keyboard.
