I'm still on the fence about whether to upgrade or not but if I do it will no doubt be silver. Maybe I've just gotten used to MBP's looking a certain way but SG and no glowing logo? I'm not ready for that Apple.

While I think silver is a great color, I don't understand the "classic" look agrument and even less the "timless" one.

I think the SG Macs are just as 'classic' because of their design (just like a white iPhone is still a 'classic' iPhone) - it's the details, not the color. We had Macs of all colors, from colorful iMacs to black MacBooks - and we had SG Apple devices for a long time. Space Gray is a classic look alright.

And it certainly looks just as timeless.

As for "it looks like any other PC" argument - there are more silver PCs today than those that have a darker shade. I don't think any PC looks anything close to a Space Gray Mac - or a silver one. Both are stunning.

As I said - silver is a great color. But saying random things like "classic look" makes it feel like you're justifying your choice. No, it's not objectively "more Mac" or anything. But it is a great choice, and silver MBPs are really good looking. Just as SG ones.

I agree with everything except that nothing else looks like the SG MacBook. I was in class a few weeks ago and saw someone with what appeared to be a 15" SG MBP. When class let out I made sure to pass it on the way out and it turned out to be a HP lol

Prepare yourself for the onslaught, or it might just be my username that causes the guy offence? Perhaps if it was Dave1979 I'd be fine.

I've ordered a silver 15" 2016 mbp and its schedueled to be delivered tomorrow :) First ordered a space gray, but changed my mind for the silver one. Feels like most people is going for the space gray option, so it feels more unique to have a silver. Can't wait for it to arrive.

Awesome, mine is due tomorrow as well, just left Germany this morning!

Silver MBP users, could you upload some photos of your MBPs? outside of a few videos I can't seem to find any good photos

Sorry for the crummy lighting, couple of shots of my 15" and some comparisons with the previous generation.

Well I put my order in today, still reeling from the massive dent in my bank account :D

Going to be a long two weeks wait, hopefully it'll ship quicker. But when it arrives I'll whip out the camera for some shots.

Oh and as expected I went for silver. Was very tempted by the grey but that wee voice in my head won out telling me the silver was the better choice. For me.

It should ship quicker, I ordered mine on 21/01 and it's hopefully being delivered tomorrow. My estimate delivery time when ordered was 07/02-13/02.

Yeah I'm hoping it'll be quicker, I usually find the estimates to be a bit overly cautious and they end up arriving sooner.

Not that I'm impatient or anything, honest :p
Can't wait to get my hands on it, haven't bought a new Mac since 2012, so it's exciting as always :D

Same here, I think the last MBP I had was around 2009/2010.

I was very impressed with the speed of my BTO. It was processed and shipped in only 9 days.

That's not too bad actually. I don't mind if it takes longer, I'll get the Christmas morning style excitement for a little longer :D

My pile of cables and adapters arrive on Wednesday, suppose I can just ogle them for a bit and imagine them all hooked up :D

Trying to decide if I'll order a monitor just now or not. That's the only thing I think I'll miss is the 27" screen. Just for dev work, everything else will be fine on the 15" I think.
Saying that, the last MacBook Pro I used for developing wasn't even retina and I managed on it.

At home I've got mine hooked up to my ancient Thunderbolt Display and 27" LED Cinema Display. Doesn't bug me entirely. I sold my 2015 5k iMac to get this bugger. Still a lot of resolution on those old screens to play with. When I'm at a desk I don't sit too close, so it's not a deal breaker. If the 5k LG monitor Apple co authored offered more connectivity ports (ethernet, USB-A, etc), I would jump on it. For now, I'm just going to play the waiting game and see what the market brings.

The screen on the MacBook Pro is so good I find myself relying entirely on it.

Great pics. I love the shot with the old and new together because of the difference in trackpad size. I mean, the trackpad is just monstrous. I love that Apple still has that almost frivolous design character in them... how big shall we make it? As big as possible! And I think the silver highlights its size even more.

I have the Magic Trackpad 2 at home, and they are literally the same size. I wish I had it on me to snap a picture, it's kinda funny. I personally love the trackpad, it's one of the notebooks best features.

I'm rather liking the look of the Acer 27" H277HU. USB-C connection for display and power plus it has good old USB 3 type A ports which is very handy. Along with HDMI and DisplayPort.

And at only £450 I think it's pretty much at the top of my list at the moment, it helps that it's a much nicer design. I'm not a fan of the LG displays Apple are pushing, I think they're bloody ugly things and while what it can do is more important obviously, I still like my stuff to be as aesthetically pleasing as they can be.

Totally agree, not crazy about the design myself. I was obviously a huge fan of the Apple Thunderbolt Display for both design aesthetics (mirrors the product) and because it worked as a great docking solution for the MacBook. Still bummed Apple threw in the towel on continuing the display line. A revised edition would have been a great accessory for the new MacBook's.
