Yeah and the only different between the sport and the watch is the stainless steel. Surely for the price differential it will be more of a difference. What the point of the premium otherwise.

You might want to browse Apple's website a little more and learn more about what each model offers. The only difference is not the stainless steel. The Apple Watch (Stainless Steel) also comes with sapphire covering the display, which is vastly different then the reinforced glass on the Apple Watch Sport.

How much do you think they will be on eBay (the straps not the watch obviously)

You can read all about the differences in the watches on Apples web site. There are more differences besides case material but the shapes and band fitment are identical.

You beat me to it.

Will be very interesting to see the actual "practical" difference is as in how strong the normal one is to the sport in actual real world scenarios

This makes me really happy. Price aside I much prefer the look of the aluminum over the stainless steel, which is too glossy for me.

I just scheduled an appointment with the other Apple Store in town tomorrow. Hopefully they have the Silver Sport and they're cool about letting me swap bands around for the try on. If they do, I'll get some pics for everyone.

Just to follow-up on this - They didn't have any Silver Sports available.

Still no Silver Sport with Leather Loop pics?

I don't think you're going to get many until next Friday at the earliest when the products hit the streets and people are free to mix/match as they please. Apple clearly doesn't want people trying the leather bands with the cheaper Sport models. They want you to step up into SS and drive sales via the available combinations.

At the store I was at, many were trying the leather loop with the Sport - it seemed like quite a lot were switching straps around. At the moment, the major hurdle seems to be the dearth of 42mm silver Sports - I've heard from three people who went to three different stores, and all only had the 42mm Sport in SG.

I wonder what Apple's official policy is on the bands. Initially, they were very clear that swapping would not be permitted during the try on appointments. However, there are some stores/employees that have allowed it without much fuss.

Agreed on the silver Sports. My store did not have one either. I wonder if that's by design?

Apologies if this has already been discussed but will Apple Stores be selling separate bands in store on the 24th?

I've got an additional black fluoro band on preorder to go with my silver Sport but it's saying delivery between 30th-13th May. Which brings me onto another point? Why are even the simplest rubber bands so limited? You'd think Manufacturers would be able to churn these out.

The employee did say to me that they were advised not to switch non-Sport bands with the Sport watch, but that they'd all done it anyway and saw no harm in it if the store wasn't busy and people weren't waiting to try them on. At my appointment, he was even mixing and trying on the watches himself. It was all quite fun, and I got to try out almost all of the straps.

I've no idea why there aren't any silver 42mm to try on: maybe they thought it would dissuade people from buying the SS? Maybe they just haven't manufactured enough?

What I found interesting as well was that my local store's glass display table was missing the pink 42mm Sport watch and blue leather loop. Had every other watch though, including all 38mm ones and Edition ones.

When I was trying on the sport, the Apple guy didn't want me to try on the Milanese loop. He explained that due to galvanic corrosion Apple strongly suggest you don't do this. Although it does look better on the stainless steel watch, I don't want to pay extra for the SS, and according to iMore, both metals have been treated to avoid this corrosion.

Still wouldn't let me try it on though.

Not sure if this has been posted yet but I found this on google image search:

I like the nice subdued look of aluminum too!

Completely agree, the stainless was way too shiny for me too. I don't like anything reflective or glossy at all, the sport silver aluminum perfectly suits me.

Nice looking even if it appears to be a fingerprint magnet. Perhaps it's not so bad in person.

I'm not seeing this as being a fingerprint magnet at all. Everything about the silver sport and Milanese loop appear to have matte finishes. When I handled the sport silver at my try on appointment I didn't note any fingerprinting at all. I also handled the milanese loop and don't recall that being an issue either.

I didn't like the Space Grey as I'm having doubts matching with other bands. But now after seeing some pics in this thread, Silver Aluminum really looks great in almost any bands! will just buy black sport band + milanese loop in the future.
Thanks to this thread!:D

42mm Silver Sports

Like a lot of people here, I have been unable to try on a 42mm Silver sport. I have been to two Apple stores in Sydney and their try on kits are strangely missing the 42mm silver. Seems to be a global thing, with a few exceptions. Weird - any idea why?

On a positive note, I am glad to see this thread. This forum is so obsessed with space grey that I was beginning to think I was the only person on the planet that wanted silver!

The combination I ordered, can't wait! :) Hope I can sell the white band that comes with the watch without making too much of a loss.

I ordered it with the stainless pin. Think it looks better IMO.

I just came back from my 3rd try on (Apple Store Berlin) and there is one thing i noticed.
Again they had no silver aluminum in 42mm to try on. At the first two try on's the store was very crowded so i thought that's the reason why there was no silver aluminum in 42mm.
But today the store wasn't very crowded so i asked for the 42mm silver sport, but no chance for that again i just was able to try on the 42mm space grey and the 38mm silver aluminum. They would even have let me try different bands if there would be a 42mm.

Anyone else who has trouble to find a silver aluminum 42mm to try on? :D
